AND TOWN COUNCIL MINUTES SPECIAL SESSION THURSDAY JUNE 24, 2021 TOWN HALL COUNTY,FL SINCE 1872 Having been duly advertised as required by law, Mayor Mitchell Mack called the Special Session meeting to order at 7.01pm. The Mayor gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Members Present: Mitchell Mack, Mayor Stephen Cross Gayle Sikkema Orita Issartel Kimberly Kobera Staff Present: Graham Wells, Town Clerk Wally Hoagland, Police Chief Roll Call was performed, and it was determined that a quorum was present. CITIZENS QUESTIONS AND COMMENT There were no citizens at the meeting. AGENDA REVIEW There we no changes to the agenda. NEW BUSINESS PROPOSALTO PURCHASE TWO POLICE VEHICLES - CHIEF HOAGLAND Chief Hoagland had provided a proposal and quotation to purchase two new police vehicles. Currently the town is operating with a fleet aging back to 2012 and recently had a 2015 SUV totaled leaving one vehicle short. The K9 vehicle has been in the shop for two months with turbo There is a nationwide shortage of police vehicles due to lack of parts and the two vehicles in question were located in Pennsylvania and his request is to purchase them both ata total cost of $96,130. He responded tol Mr. Cross question outlining the existing vehicles, the ages and mileage One of the vehicles is a Ford F150 crew cab pickup truck fully loaded and just needs tagging and striping. The other is a Ford Explorer which has no equipment which will be transferred from Councilman Sikkema asked if we could purchase one and not the other as she felt that the truck ise expensive in cost and gas and is inappropriate for a small town like Astatula. problems that they cannot fixl leaving another vehicle down. and stated that the value of the totaled vehicle is around $15,000. totaled SUV. Mr. Wells stated that it could be funded from a combination of reserves and cares act money. He cautioned that there will be other items to come from the same funds such as the Kirkwood Park grant and the additional cost to complete the well, but added that the town did have the money and should purchase them outright and not finance or lease them. There being no further discussion the mayor requested a motion. MOTION by Councilwoman Kobera to approve the purchase of two vehicle for $96,130; SECONDED by Councilwoman Issartel A Roll Call vote was taken.
