New Council member Jeanne Quiros and Councilman Zane Teeters took the oath of office and were sworn inl by Clerk Graham' Wells. Councilwoman took here seat at the council table. CITIZENS QUESTIONS AND COMMENT Dawn Teeters 13419 Maryland Avenue, Astatula spoke about the late letter sent out for business tax receipts. She felt that as there is no enforcement of payment, that they should be scrapped as some pay, and many do not. The Clerk agreed and explained why the letters were sent out late and added that as the county had ceased issuing business licenses a couple ofy years ago, it was likely that the town would follow suit next year. He went over the highlights ofa report that he prepares each year for the citizens to give them an overview oft the town's financial activities during the year. He then went over the amendments The report showed that the town had received la substantial amount in grant funding which had enabled the purchase of four patrol cars, two advisory boards and multiple laptop computers and docking stations for the police vehicles. Vice-Mayor Cross stated that the council had not The Mayor said that this was true and that they should have been approved. This was not an agenda item, so it was suggested that the resolution be approved after the grants were. formally approved. The clerk reminded the council that the final budget amendment by statute had to be approved within sixty days oft the financial year end. With this in mind, it was agreed that future grants must be formally approved, and that council would move forward with the resolution. Both were very receptive to our plans. He also talked about hiring Councilman Teeters (LDR's, Ordinances, Legal, Grants) -brought up an issue with the rehiring of) Jennifer Long that had not been ratified by the council. He also spoke about the issue of the chief using the community center for personal use without paying, and how the rentals are tracked. He felt that there were deficiencies in the system, but the clerk disagreed and said that itwas and has been adequate since it was built, for everyone that has rented it. He went on to talk about the two mobile homes that had been installed in East Lake Harris Estates and the the lobbyist from Gray Robinson. Clerksa authority to sign zoning clearances.
