Minutes of2/17/09  Park and Recreation Commission  1. Meeting called to order- -7pm. Director- John DeLorenzo. 3. Agenda Approved 4. Minutes Approved  2. Roll Call: Commissioners present: Kelly, Childs, Donnery, Young, Coleman, Mcinerney, Interim  5. Open Time for Public Expression: No public expression  . Recommend to' Town Council to adopt Rules and Regulations for the Red Hill Community Dog Dog park ad hoc rules committee met (made up of3 community members, 3 professional dog walkers, and commission members) 41 times and came up with Rules and Etiquette. Al big concern was thet time slot of 3-4pm being reserved for older/smaller dogs. This will have Rules will be posted in a locked bulletin board at the dog park, signs at entrances, int town Dog committee purchased waste removal supplies for dog park and track area with donations  Park:  to ber re-addressed ifi it becomes a problem  newsletter, on Red Hill Park website, and possibly on town website from al local pet food: store. Discussed need to keepl bags stocked. Rules approved and recommend them being sent to Town Council. Thank you to Terrya and commission members for aj job well done  7. Recommend to Town Council to create a' Youth Commissioner position to serve as a member Discussed whether youth commissioner should be al Drake student or open to anyone who lives Approved sending recommendation to Town Council for a' Youth Commissioner with the  oft the Parks and Recreation Commission  in San Anselmo following:  Applicant to be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior who lives in San Anselmo or the  unincorporated areas of San Anselmo Position will be ai full voting member  Applicant to bei in good academic standing = 'B' average Deadline for applications 3/1 (This year only deadline is! 5/1/09) Position to start in June (this year only that will be al later date)  Doug Kelly offered to revise the current application for Park and Rec Commission to better fita  Youth applicant    8. Scheduling Programs and Activities at Red Hill Park  Chris" Thoennes unable to attend meeting report given by interim director. John DeLorenzo Schedule has been worked on. Preference for scheduling will be given to Tam District, Town of San Anselmo (Park and Recreation), SABA, Sunnyhills in that order. This was determined by Calendar will be kept by Tam District staff, posted, and any free time will be available for public  discussions at. JPA meetings with community input  applications  Discussion regarding making sure SABA/WMLL has time on the: schedule Requested Chris Thoennes come to next meeting and present schedule  9. Revenue and Expenditure Report  55% of projected revenue and 48% of expenditures % way through the year. Ont target Revenue and expenditure report to be put on next agenda for an in depth discussion after  interim director has a chance to review 10. Develop Youth Summer Sports Camps  Item tabled until next meeting SO commissioner Logwood can present ideai for bringing in local pros for clinics/camps for our park and recreation department sO we can! build some summer  camps 11. Staff Presentation  Andrea Torrey, recreation coordinator presented  Previous summer camp program at memorial has been terminated. Starting a summer camp at Summer shorts-V wasn't doing well as a summer camp. Has been re-vamped and applied to Theyl have reduced their budget for park and rec guide by cutting back mailings (ie -t to After school program at Robson is very popular-s serving 60-65 kids. Discussed being polite to  Robson.  Started Camp Kinder Cool- - Kindergarten preparedness. Very popular.  younger kids. Staff Update Memorial Park" Tennis courts  New courts have small holes everywhere. Letter was sent and warranty being met is nota an issue. However, subcontractor willing to fixt for ai fee only. Tom Mclnerney and Doug Kelly to get tennis experts to look at: surface and report to John DeLorenzo so that we can pursue getting repairs done under warranty    Red Hill Park Update = dedication opening ceremony in March.  13. Comments/Questions  On-line registration discussed with recreation staff. Iti is getting ready to be up and running, software maker and bank being contacted, would like to have a trial period before instituting. Interview panel for new Park and Recreation Director set, process to include oral boards in March, top candidates to meet with Park and Recreation Commission, Town Council before Concern was raised over tree at Robson that might fall, being researched/assessed  Inquiry on how the ice skating wenti in Fairfax- - haven't heard.  offer made  Seed garden at Robson not happening  Future Agenda Items:  Tennis courts- Kelly Summer Camps-L Logwood Online Registration Process Update Youth Commissioner- application review Revenue and Expenditure Report  Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm.
