Council member Stevel Buckley made ai motion to approve thet minutes. Council member Chad Okamoto Jilll Perez and Scott Mescort spoke on! behalf oft their pet ducks, asking the council to consider changing the ordinance not claiming ducks as livestock. Michael Keith also spoke during public comments onl his grievance with the Police Department. Mayor Scott Sheffy and City Manager Daniel Jackson feel the city finances are ont track. Item) No.2. The motion was voted on and passed City Manager reported to the Council members the city has two citizens asking for water service outside ofCity limits. Council members discussed what alli it would entail top provide water service, including double check valve and paying a tap fee. Council member Chad Okamoto: made a motion to approve action. City] Manager Daniel Jackson reminded all the upcoming Council Members oft the first day toi file. January 17, 2024, and the last day to file is February 16, 2024. Mr. Jackson reported" TECQI has approved well #101 for temporary use. We are working on getting allt the equipment on the well tor makes sure iti is running smoothly, and we willr run more tests. Mr. Jackson also reported the drought contingency plan has been submitted tot the engineers at Parkhill, Smith & Cooper. The drought contingency plan was drafted in 2011,itiso out TXDOT has started taking bids from contractors for the super twol highway project on 385 from Vega tol Littlefield. Mr.. Jackson explained we have contractors contacting the city to inquire on water rates and the cost to1 rent a meter to put ont the firel hydrants. Mr. Jackson received an email from Texas Parks and' Wildlife, the City ofI Dimmitt splash park willl ber recommended: for funding on. January 25, 2024.1 Mr. Jackson reported this isa $650,000 project, the grant isa one-to-one match. The $50,000 willl be the administrative cost. The city's cost willl be $300,000.. But while doing the application, Mr. Jackson was ablet tos secure $150,000 from the Dimmitt Community Foundation. The City's cost will only be $150,000.
