Mayor Sheffy indicated that the council members had previously received and reviewed the minutes from February 19, 2024, regular meeting. Council member. John Nino made a motion toa approve the minutes. Council member Sergiol Navarro seconded. Ther motion was voted on and passed unanimously. Item No.3. Hear public comments. There were no public comments. Item No.4. Discussion of current financials. members feelt the financials are doing well. Mayor Sheffy reviewed the financial statements with the council members. Mrs. Kern certified the candidates were unopposed for election to office for the election scheduled tol bel held on SATURDAYI MAY 04,2024. Council member Steve Buckley made a motion to approve the cancellation oft the City ofI Dimmitt General Election scheduled: for May 4, 2024 regarding unopposed candidates for Districts 1,2,3, and 4. Council member. John Nino seconded. The motion was voted on and passed unanimously. Mayor Sheffy called on City Manager Daniel Jackson: for his report. Mr. Jackson reported he had spoken with) Dimmitt V.F.D. Chief Cory Lane about the new fire truck they are pricing. No bid has been provided yet. Mr.. Jackson saidt that this vehicle will have to got through BuyBoard, ora another purchasing cooperative, to ensure that we gett the best and lowest price. Mr. Jackson reported that Eric Enriquez has formally been accepted into the Panhandle. Regional Law Enforçement Academy at. Amarillo College. After his financial aid, tuition, materials, uniforms, and boots will all be covered. Asai full time employee, he will be using a city vehicle to drivet to and from the Police Academy. Mr. Jackson reported he sent out al letter ofi intentt to TXDOT Aviation ai few weeks ago to get things started for our airport improvements. Wheni itist time tos start design and planning, resolutions will be presented for council consideration. Mr. Jackson spoke tot the council about issues with Well #3 in South] Field. Public Works Director Tony Rios contacted Conyers Well Service to check the well. Conyers Service would be able toj pull, bail, and replace the pump and takei it down to 20 or 251 HPf for $14,000. This was about $30,000.00 cheaper than the previous bidy wel had. Mr. Jackson said he gave Mr. Rios approval to move forward with Conyers Well Service. Mr. Jackson also said we ares still watching Well# #5 inl North Field tos see how much the water Item No. 6 City Manager's Report. 980 levels drop. We will determine then ift the welli is worth repairing. Mr. Jackson said! he and Mr. Rios are also planning on getting In-town well #2 worked on by Conyers as well. Mr.. Jackson also spoke to the Council aboutt the repairs needing tob bei taken care of on Western Circle. Ther running water ist not draining correctly andi is causing potholes and extensive damage to the street. Mr.. Jackson said Mr. Rios spoke tol Domingo Montel about the repairs and! his bid to repair the drainage gutter was $14,500. This included the concrete, rebar, and labor tor remove the old andi install the new. Mr.. Jackson saidt they felt this bid was reasonable and that wel had budgeted $15,000 in Capital Outlay for Streets and Alleys. Mr. Montiel started thej jobt today. Item No. 7. Adjourn.
