MINUTES Troy Recreation Board Meeting Wednesday, May 15, 2024 4:00 p.m. Hobart Arena Members Present: Marty Hobart, President; Tom Dunn, Vice President; Ashley Reed, Secretary and Eric Herman. Lindsy Fisher. Members Absent: Others Present: Kenneth Siler, Director of Recreation and Carrie Slater, Assistant Director of Recreation. The meeting was called to order by the President of the Recreation Board, Marty Hobart. The minutes ofthe April 17, 2024 Troy Recreation Board meeting were read. It was moved by Mr. Hobart and seconded by Mr. Dunn that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. The Director informed the board that it has been very hectic between maintenance projects and The Director received al letter from the United Way of Miami County today stating that the department has received the $13,000 requested for 2025 Troy Playground Program. Carrie is currently in ai meeting with staff for the Troy Playground Program. The program begins the: first week ofJune along with ai majority of the: recreation programs. Summer program registrations are going well. Numbers are looking good. Hockey registrations for the fall season are ongoing. The registration deadline is. July 11th. There are currently 631 kids registered in the youth program. The summer adult hockey program is 2 spots away from being filled. Float Troy reservations continue toi increase. They are slightly under where they were at this time last The Director also informed the board that arena staffi is working on al lot of1 maintenance projects (painting, cleaning, etc.). They are also doing projects in thei refrigeration room, getting ready for start-up which will happen immediately following graduations. Tomorrow evening is the Troy High School Awards Assembly and graduations run until the last graduation ceremony on May 26th. This Saturday is the. Jo Dee Messina/Tracy Byrd concert. Itis 200 tickets away from selling out. The Director is working on fall dates. He is trying to get ai rock show in the 4th quarter of2024 to get a good mix of events. They came yesterday and dialed it in and did a vibration test on it to make sure everything was lined up properly and everything was fine. The health inspection was initially scheduled for today with the Health Department but the inspector rescheduled. Iti is rescheduled for next Tuesday. Membership sales are ahead of where they were this time last year. To date, there are 217sold. Last year at this time, there were: 203 sold. Summer swim team practices begin this Saturday. Carriel has been doing a lot ofin-service trainings with the crew over at the pol several times a week to get them ready for opening on Saturday, Mary 25th. A lightening detection system was installed on thel back oft the arena. It was just turned on today. Itis piggy backing with the system that has been in place for 4 years out at Duke Park. A letter was sent to the neighbors across the street sO that they are aware of what the noise is. It has been a good reliable The Director also informed the board that he and Carrie met with the architects regarding the feasibility study for the pool a couple of weeks ago. They are hoping to have an initial report sometime in the first halfofJune sO that it can bej presented to downtown and the board with a goal of2025 or 2026 to start making repairs, updates, expansions, etc. that the study system at Duke Park.
