Work Session Minutes Council Chambers Monongahela, PA February 12, 2024 Minutes for February 12, 2024, Work Session, gaveled into session at 9:00 a.m. The meeting was Mayor Garry stated council was in executive session from 8:30 AM until 9:00. AM. Christine Somales, 808 West Main Street, here on behalfof St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and they would like to invite the City workers and first responders for al luncheon at their church in October. George Eckert stated that the Chamber of Commerce is having a purse bash in March 16th and the Fleatique will be June 1st. The Transit Authority, just had a revision of bylaws. The Farmer's Market has about 16 vendors who have committed. The Movies in thel Mounds and the Mutt March certificate of insurance on hand with the City will work with thel Mutt March but not the Movies in the Mounds. He then stated he was elected Chairman oft the Board ofthe Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority. called to order by Mayor Garry who led in the pledge to the Flag. Councilwoman O'Brien stated that the Bicycle Safety will be May 4th at CFS Bank and May will Code Enforcement Fritch stated they went to al blighted property seminar they had some options other than just tearing houses down and taking it off the tax rolls. The Land Bank, ifit was worth their while, they would purchase these houses, put money into the house, sell the house, and take the profits. There is a buy in on our end and ai fee. The biggest issue is squatters and getting them out legally. Councilman Sarver stated he was at the meeting and wanted to compliment our Code Enforcer Charlie as when the issue of squatters and the court system came up, he kept pounding that home to the presenter and she said they were going to try to coordinate something county wide to address the issue. Frank Novotny from The Eads Group stated that he would have Tamie put on the Agenda payment to the contractor for the Fifth Street Storm Sewer Phase II. They put cold patch in and will be back in the Spring to pave and everything looked good. He will also speak to Tamie regarding the Army Corps request for documentation ofownership of the roads by the Aqutorium which he is not sure why it Councilman Gadd stated that back here where they put the manhole next to the catch basin at the corner it is a pretty low spot right there and you can see where iti is pretty low. He would suggest ift they George Eckert stated that at the October or November meeting council had talked about the where Fry Lumber used to be at Sixth Street selling that to the Barbes. He and. Chris was at the meeting discussing the railroad and the signs. There will be crossing arms put up there That would be giving away our control. and the City is not financially responsible for that. Mayor Garry also stated that there is a rumor out there that the City sold Railroad Street to Sheetz Councilwoman O'Brien stated Sheetz willl be will be tearing down in March and their tentative which is not true we did not. reopen is in August.
