Council Meeting Council Chambers Monongahela, PA January 10, 2024 Minutes oft the regular meeting of the Council of the City of Monongahela, due notice of which meeting was published according to law, held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 7:001 P.M., in Council Chambers. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Garry who led in the pledge to the Flag. Mayor Garry stated there was an executive session from 6:45 PM to 7:04) PM. He stated that Diane Barber's mother passed away and asked that everyone keep them int their prayers. The roll was called and the following present: Greg Garry Roy Sarver Sarah O'Brien Daryl Miller Mark Gadd Mayor Garry stated that Councilman Miller is not in attendance due to illness. Public Forum George Eckert, representing thel Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority wanted to correct something he reported at Monday's Work Session. Westmoreland County gave the allotment that they were asked for there was no reduction in their monies. Report of City Clerk Police Report It was recommended and SO moved by Mayor Garry, seconded by Councilwoman O'Brien, the Police Report be approved, and the same was agreed to by the following Yea and Nay vote to the call of the roll by the Clerk: Yeas Greg Garry Roy Sarver Sarah O'Brien Mark Gadd Total Yeas 4 Nays 0 Garry and SO ordered. Report of] Public Safety The motion having received the majority vote of Council the same was declared by Mayor It was moved by Councilwoman O'Brien, seconded by Councilman Gadd, to amend the agenda for ai motion for special exemption for section 3B inl Bill 5-2020, and the same was agreed to by the following Yea and Nay vote to the call ofthe roll by the Clerk: Yeas Greg Garry Roy Sarver Sarah O'Brien Mark Gadd Total Yeas 4 Nays 0 Garry and SO ordered. The motion having received the majority vote of Council the same was declared by Mayor It was moved by Councilwoman O'Brien, seconded by Councilman Gadd, to grant a special exemption under section 3B of Bill 5 of2020 for the safety ofall concerned to allow a section of] Marne Avenue from Ninth to Meade Streets for main line repairs to be asphalt instead of brick, and the same was agreed to by the following Yea and Nay vote to the call of the roll by the Clerk: Yeas Greg Garry Councilwoman O'Brien stated that it is time for 2024 Rental Inspections, its that time of year sO keep sidewalks cleared of snow, signs must be removed from the sidewalk and taken inside at close, please turn off] lighted signs at the end of the business day, no riding bikes on the sidewalk, and you can not put your garbage out more than 24 hours prior to pick up. Report of Streets & Improvements Nothing to report. Report of Parks & Property Councilman Gad stated that the Welcome to Monongahela sign in the triangle is being removed to be repainted. He spoke with Washington County Redevelopment and there are some funds left over from the big pavilion and they are looking into what we can use that money for. They are looking into putting a little ballfield up at thel Hillcrest Park. Report of Solicitor Nothing to report. Report of] Police Chief Chief Harris stated that they are in the beginning stages of reevaluating the parking meters in the City and willl be going through to see what repairs need to be made. He also stated that the current list of eligible for full time hiring has expired and with Council support he would like to start the process and tentative testing date of] February 10, 2024. Council agreed to start the process.
