Nixon,  ESt.1 1906  Nixon City Council Minutes for 2.20.2024 Regular Meeting  The Nixon City Council met in Regular Session on the 20th day of February 2024 at 5:30 p.m. in the Members present were. Justin La Fleur, Maggie Gaytan, Ellie Dominguez, Patsy Scherrer, Melissa Pompa, Eddie Escobar, Tanya Torres, Jeremy Bustos, Chief Miguel Cantu, Briana Dominguez, David Russell, Ryan O'Neil, Court Petterson, Andy Crenshaw, Michael Martinez, Nona Bruce, Dorothy Alexander, Johnny Hewell, A quorum was declared present, and Mayor Pro-Tem Ellie Dominguez called the meeting to order at 5:33 Roll call was conducted. All council members were present. Mayor Dorothy Riojas was absent. Johnny Hewell gave a prayer. And the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America and the State of Citizen Dorothy Alexander spoke regarding loud music in her neighborhood and people living in storage buildings in her neighborhood. She also spoke regarding wild hogs in her yard along with coyotes, she Melanie and Matthew Flores also spoke under Citizens to be Heard regarding a mobile home variance. They did present the pictures and floor plans to the council. The council asked that they be put on the Ar motion was made by. No action was taken on the water issues that were to be presented by Beverly Millington.  Mr.Johnny Hewell gave a brief presentation on the progress of the building of the new God's Store House. Mr. David Russell with Frontier Fiber Optics gave a presentation regarding the fiber optic internet service  that will soon be available to the residents of Nixon.    Ar motion was made by. Justin La Fleur and seconded by Patsy Scherrer on the Nixon Texas Volunteer Fire Department Warranty Deed for the Volunteer Fire Department Property. Motion carried 5-0. A motion was made by. Justin La Fleur and seconded by Patsy. Scherrer to grant authorization to Fire Chief Mark Mendez at a council meeting on February 20th, 2024, to have access to the City of Nixon Fire Truck Account. The authorization is limited to accessing the statements, transaction items, and balance inquiries. He does not have authorization to make withdrawals or close the account. The authorization will remain in effect until written notice is given to Third Coast Bank. Motion carried 5-0. Justin La Fleur and seconded by Melissa Pompa to approve the removal of Harold Rice as the authorized signature and adding Chief Miguel Cantu as the authorized signature for the Bullet A Motion was made by. Justin La Fleur and seconded by Melissa Pompa to have agenda item #13 (Discuss, Consider, Possible Action on any necessary 2023-2024 budget amendments under items listed on the current agenda) go into executive session under Texas Government code 551.074 (Personnel).  fori the Fire Truck.
