CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX February, 1, 2021 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in regular session on Monday, February, 1, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor Elaine Kocian, Aldermen Chip Bubela, Wendy Fietsam, Ben Herzik, Clarence Ahischlager, and Larry' Veselka. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, Operations' Manager, Darryl Moeller, and Mason Florus. Visitors included Darrell Vyvjala oft the Schulenburg Sticker and Ivân Velasquez. Mayor Kocian called role and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mason Florus said a prayer over the meeting and its members. Alderman Veselka made a motion, seconded by Alderman Fietsam, to accept Consent Agenda items A and B. The motion passed unanimously. (A) The minutes from the Council Meeting held on January 19, 2021. (B) The payment of current bills. Mrs. Walker announced that Library Director, Thadious Polasek, presented a Long-Range Plan for the Schulenburg Public Library to the Library Board. The Library Board approved the plan Alderman Bubela made a motion, seconded by Alderman Herzik to accept the Long-Range Mrs. Walker led discussion on an ordinance ordering and approving notice of a General Election Alderman Herzik made a motion, seconded by Alderman Veselka to order the election. The Mrs. Walker gave an update on the Elevated Storage Tank at Interstate 10. Mrs. Walker spoke with Water Superintendent, Jason Strickland, and the contractor. The interior dry portion of the water tower did not need to be painted. However, Will Huebner, an engineer with Strand, professed in an email that since it was in the bid the City should be subject to a credit. Viking responded that none of the dry area was subject to being painted, just pressure washing and Mrs. Walker gave an update on the CBDG GLO-MIT application. Mrs. Walker stated that this pertained toi the drainage project however the GLO delayed dispensing the money and the City and needed Council's approval. Plan. Mrs. Walker gave an update on the public hearing held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Mrs. Walker said no one was in attendance. The City is currently working on assigning an engineer and an administrator for the grant. Municipal Court Judge, Kayla Peter's report was presented to Councit. Chief of Police, Troy Brenek reported that the department purchased two new vehicles and the City is waiting to equip them. The vehicles should be ready mid to late February. Chief Brenek also reported that the City hired a new officer, Brent Gindler. Gindler is a fourteen-year veteran Library Director, Thadious Polasek's report was presented to council. The Library is open Operations' Manager, Darry! Moeller, updated Council on all department activities: from the Gonzales County Sheriff's Department. Tuesdays and Thursdays and is still providing curbside service. Parks department continued preparing the ball fields and installed the cap on the top to Street Department did major patching on Baumgarten St. and worked on rebuilding a Sewer Department drained sludge and worked on a service line on Wolf St. Water Department worked on a 2 Inch water line at Baumgarten and Simpson. They Electric Department replaced poles, street lights, and services. They also worked on All department Heads met with ACE Hardware for a pre-construction meeting. No action was taken on the Real Property - Lot 1&2, Block 1 Ignacio Almansur League Abstract No. 120 and Mrs. Walker was authorized to preform her duties as applicable.
