CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX July, 19, 2021 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in regular session on Monday, July 19th, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. ini the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor Elaine Kocian, Aldermen Greg Thomas, Wendy Fietsam, Ben Herzik, Clarence Ahischlager, and Larry' Veselka. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, and Human Resources Officer, Mason Florus. Visitors included Pastor Lemae Higgs, Layne Vyvjala oft the Schulenburg Sticker, and Ivàn Mayor Kocian called role and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Pastor Lemae said a prayer over the Mayor Kocian read a thank you letter from former City Employee, Melissa Shepard, in regards to the flowers sent by Mayor and Council for the death of Mrs. Shepard's father, Elton Kaase. Alderman Fietsam made a motion, seconded by Alderman Veselka, to accept the Consent (A) The Minutes of the Regular Scheduled Meeting held on July 6th, 2021 (C) The Quarterly Investment Report as of. June 30th, 2021 Velasquez. meeting and its members. Agenda Items A, B, and C. The motion passed unanimously. (B) The payment of current bills Mrs. Walker led discussion on setting a budget workshop date for FY 2020-2021. Alderman Herzik made a motion, seconded by Alderman Veselka, to set the Budget Workshop date for Monday, August gth, at 5:00 ini the City Hall Multi-Purpose Room. The motion passed Mrs. Walker added that she will putt the item back on the agenda for the August 2nd meeting Mrs. Walker then led discussion on changing the meeting date on Monday, September 6th, due Alderman Veselka made a motion, seconded by Alderman Thomas, to move the meeting to unanimously. and at that council meeting Council will select a "backup date." to the Labor Day holiday. Tuesday, September 7", 2021 at 6:00 P.M. Chief Brenek was still on vacation and did not have a report. Walker reported the following on Public Works: Operations Manager, Darryl Moeller, was also absent but gave his report to Mrs. Walker. Mrs. Electric Department set a pole for a new Cajun food truck that will go in across from Schwenke Baumgarten Funeral Home. They also trimmed trees from electric services. Water and Wastewater departments worked on water leaks at 110 and at Well 9, and Darryl worked on budget with Julie read meters Street Department is still trimming trees in Wolters Park along with pressure washing and painting throughout the park. They also filled ini for Kubala who was on vacation and Mason passed his Herbicide License so the Parks Department has been busy spraying. They are also mowing and weed eating as much as they can in-between the rain. Some areas of town are grown up but the rain has really pushed our guys back on Water Department worked on another leak today at the 1200 Block of Summit drove his normal garbage and sewer route.
