CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX October 18, 2021 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in regular session on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton. Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Elaine Kocian, Aldermen, Greg Thomas, Wendy Fietsam, Larry Veselka, Ben Herzik, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, and Human Resources Officer, Mason Florus. Visitors included, Layne Vyvjala of the Schulenburg Sticker, Andy Behlen oft the Fayette County Record, Ona Marak, Chairperson of the Board of Adjustments, and Pastor Lemae Higgs. Mayor Kocian called role and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Pastor Lemae said a prayer over the Ona Marak, Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Adjustments, presented Council the results of a hearing in regards to a variance request from Section 6.11 of Appendix B of the Schulenburg Code of Ordinances to place ai travel trailer on the property located at 1112 Kessler Avenue, for housing on a temporary basis until the Juarez Family can rebuild after their housefire. Mrs. Marak explained that the City already hooked up the water and moved an electric pole to expedite the process. Mrs. Marak said there was a motion and a second to allow the Juarez Family to live in a travel trailer on their lot for up to a year. The motion passed 4-0. Main, and Richard attended a MASA meeting in Bastrop. locates. Street Department picked up the Tree Puller attachment for the skid-steer from Kleiber, picked up the excavator from Bobcat, repaired street in front of Schulenburg Printing's loading area on Anderson, repaired street at the new water valves on Heinrich, and put Parks Department planted ryegrass at the sports complex and continued normal duties. Alderman Ahlschlager October 18, Prep work started at Russek Street for the contractor to move in and up markers for the culverts at West and Baumgarten. City Administrator, Tami Walker, reported the following to Council: RV Park, and met with Alderman Veselka start work on Henderson Hill October 21, SEDC Meeting Future Dates: October 25, meeting with the EMS Director, Clint Sternadel, Darryl Moeller, and myself October 27-29, TMCA Seminar in Galveston. A proposal has been received from Tyler Technologies for a new automated timeclock system. Mrs. Walker also informed Council that she's meeting with Verkada to purchase cameras and Mrs. Walker concluded by announcing that Eric Cullen passed his Class C Wastewater exam. Mrs. Walker commented that she is aware of the 18-wheelers driving down West Avenue and Russek Street. Mrs. Walker stated that Chief has reached out to Purdue and the contractor Alderman Fietsam asked if we had a signed agreement with Mr. Wotipka. Mrs. Walker replied as of1:001 today, yes. Mrs. Walker elaborated that there should be a payment on October 20, November 20, December 20, and the remaining balance should be paid in full on January 20.
