CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX September 26, 2022 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in al Workshop to discuss Non-traditional Housing on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton. Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Elaine Kocian, Aldermen, Gregg Thomas, Wendy Fietsam, Larry Veselka, Howard Stoner, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, Operations Manager, Darryl Moeller, Billing Manager, Megan Bartos, Permitting Officer, Kenny Schramek, and City Secretary, Mason Florus. Visitors included City Attorney, Patty Akers. Mayor Kocian called role. City Attorney, Patty Akers, presented a new ordinançe draft to Council. Mrs. Akers stated that this ordinance includes language on Mobile Homes, Manufactured Homes, HUD Homes, and Travel Trailers. Mrs. Akers announced this is an ordinance that Council needs to approve to be After discussion, there was a general consensus on the newly proposed "R-5" Housing District After discussion, there was a general consensus that "Tiny Homes" (Homes under 600 square feet, on a slab, and abide by all the City's codes) will be allowed ini the R-5 District, and any After discussion, there was a general consensus that structures not originally intended for residential dwellings (i.e., Silos and Containers) will not be allowed int the City Limits. Mrs. Akers stated that she will write up a draft for an "Alternative Housing" Ordinance and will Alderman Veselka made a motion, seconded by Alderman Thomas, to adjourn the meeting at ino compliance with new State Law. which will include mobile homes and manufactured homes.
