CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX September 12, 2022 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in a Workshop to discuss Non-traditional Housing on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 5:00P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton. Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Elaine Kocian, Aldermen, Gregg Thomas, Wendy Fietsam, Larry Veselka, Howard Stoner, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, Operations Manager, Darryl Moeller, Billing Manager, Megan Bartos, Permitting Officer, Kenny Schramek, Visitors included Darrell Vyvjala with the Schulenburg Sticker, and City Attorney, Patty Akers. Mrs. Walker announced that the purpose of this workshop is to consider and discuss the Ordinance Amending Chapters 3 and 14 regarding Mobile Homes, HUD Manufactured Housing, and Travel Trailers and Adopting Regulations for the same and Non-Traditional Housing. City Attorney, Patty Akers, stated this amended ordinance clarifies language brought on by Legislative changes and puts non-standard housing subject to conditional use permits. Mrs. Akers also professed that should be a "living, breathing document" and Council can amend After discussion, Council came to a general consensus that residences under 600 square feet must be on a slab, meet all the current building codes, and pass alli inspections to receive a certificate of occupancy. In addition, Council generally agreed structures which original uses are noti for residential housing - such as silos and shipping containers - would not be allowed in Mrs. Walker addressed Council stating that the current and proposed Mobile Home District, along with other workshop dates for October, will be discussed at the next regularly scheduled, Alderman Veselka made a motion, seconded by Alderman Thomas, to adjourn the meeting at and City Secretary, Mason Florus.
