CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX January 30, 2023 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in a special session on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 5:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton. Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Elaine Kocian, Alderwoman, Wendy Fietsam, Aldermen, Gregg Thomas, Larry Veselka, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, Police Chief, Troy Brenek, and City Secretary, Mason Florus. Visitors included, Darrell Vyvjala of the Schulenburg Sticker, Andy Behlen of the Fayette County Record, and Ivan' Velasquez. Mayor Kocian called role. Appointment. Mrs. Walker led discussion on filling a City Council vacancy by Special Election or by Council Mrs. Walker elaborated that Council needed to decide tonight because of deadlines. Mrs. Walker stated that if Council chose election, it would be on the May 6th Ballot coinciding with the General Election. The only additional cost would be two separate advertising requirements in Mrs. Walker concluded that the period to file for the Place 3 unexpired term would be February Alderwoman Fietsam made a motion, seconded by Alderman Ahlschlager, to call for a Special Election to fill the vaƧancy or Mr. Stoner's term (Place 3). The motion passed unanimously. Alderman Veselka made a motion, seconded by Alderman Thomas, to adjourn the meeting at the newspapers. 51 through March 5. 5:06. The motion passed unanimously.
