CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX August 8, 2023 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in a Budget Workshop on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 6:30 P.M. in the City Hall Multi-Purpose Room located at 535 N. Main, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Connie Koopmann, Aldermen, Frank' Wick III, Larry' Veselka, Scott Stoner, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were City Administrator, Tami Walker, Operations Manager, Darryl Moeller, Accounts Payable/Municipal Court Clerk, Julie Cernosek, and City Secretary, Mason Florus. Mayor Koopmann called role. Mrs. Walker greeted Council stating that Darryl, Julie, and her had a chance to meet and review the proposed budget and the requests of projects and needs for the City. She gave an overview on what was cut and added. She proposed balancing the budget with reserves. Mrs. Walker presented the following to Council: Governing Body - added an increase to payroll for the City Administrator Ofice/Management - removed $4,000 new PCs and $4,000 large format printer Police Department - removed $250,000 building remodel, added an increase to payroll Sports Complex - removed $8,000 boulders, $50,000 playground equipment, $15,000 mower, $12,000 Concession Stand roll-up door, and $50,000 pickleball court Wolters Park - removed $29,000 Expo Center fence and $2,500 Helipad barricades Water Department - removed $1,400 tamper and added $122,000 meter payment #2 Warehouse - removed $8,000 High Hill Yard gate, $5,500 rolling bridge jack, and Garbage Department = added $100,000 straight truck payment #1 for Police Chief Hotel Motel - removed $18,000 Rural Arts Sewer Department = removed $1,400 tamper $3,000 plasma cutter There was a question posed to Council on whether they wanted to add ai tommy gate on a current truck for $15,000 and purchase two Kubota UTVS or purchase a new truck with ai tommy gate for $65,000 At6:41,Alderman Thomas entered the City Hall Muti-Purpose Room. Alderman. Ahlschlager stated that he was int favor of a new truck with a tommy gate because the Accounts Payable /N Municipal Court Clerk, Julie Cernosek, informed Council that there is enough left in this year's budget to purchase the new truck and the UTVS this current budget City would get 20 years of use out ofi it. year. The new truck with thet tommy gate will come out of surpluses ini the Utility Fund and the Kubotas will come out oft the surpluses ini the General Fund. Council agreed. Mrs. Walker is proposing that $2,269,563 be pulled out of reserves to balance the budget.
