CITY OF SCHULENBURG SCHULENBURG, TX June 3, 2024 The City Council of the City of Schulenburg met in regular session on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers located at 607 Upton. Avenue, Schulenburg, Texas. The elected officials present included Mayor, Connie Koopmann, Alderwoman, Kathy Kleiber, Aldermen, Frank Wick III, Roger Moellenberndt, and Clarence Ahlschlager. City Staff present were Operations Manager, Darryl Moeller, Police Sergeant, Rusty Roggenkamp, and City Visitors included Darrell Vyvjala of the Schulenburg Sticker, Reverand Andrew Stafford, and Mayor Koopmann called role. Reverend Stafford said a prayer over the meeting and its members. Mayor Koopmann led the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge. Mayor Koopmann read a Proclamation for National Garden Week. Secretary, Mason Florus. Schulenburg EDC President, Paddy Magliolo. Alderman Wick made a motion, seconded by Alderwoman Kleiber, to accept Consent. Agenda A. Minutes from the Regular Scheduled Council Meeting held on May 20, 2024 City Secretary, Mason Florus, read the second reading of a Resolution of the City of Schulenburg, Texas approving a project for the Schulenburg Economic Development Corporation for al loan for $200,000, to Andre Eye and Optical PLLC. Items Aa and B B. Payment of Current Bills Alderman Ahlschlager made a motion, seconded by Alderman Moellenberndt, to accept the Schulenburg Economic Development President, Paddy Magliolo, addressed Council about Mr. Magliolo stated that the EDC wanted to increase the project funding by $310,000. This is Mr. Magliolo informed Council that the budgeted amount was $473,640 but because of the College Street rebuild and the street sign project, the EDC is wanting to increase their budget to Alderman Wick made a motion, seconded by Alderwoman Kleiber, to amend the SEDC Budget. Mr. Florus professed to Council that per City Ordinance, each year Council has to accept the appointment of officers. Mr. Florus announced that the officers would be City Secretary, Mason Florus, City Administrator, Tami Walker, Fire Marshal, Steve Strickland, Municipal Court Judge, Alderwoman Kleiber made a motion, seconded by Alderman Moellenberndt, to accept the Mr. Florus led discussion on Mayoral Appointments to replace vacated positions on boards and Kayla Peters, and Chief of Police, Troy Brenek. Mr. Florus led discussion on setting Pre-Budget and Budget Workshop dates for the preparation Aiderman Ahlschlager made a motion, seconded by Alderman Moellenberndt, to set the Pre- Budget Workshop for Tuesday, June 25th at 4:00 P.M. at Council Chambers, and the Budget Workshops for Tuesday, July gth, and Tuesday July 16th, both at 4:00 P.M. and both at Council of the FY 2024-2025. Municipal Court Judge, Kayla Peters,' Chief Brenek's Police and Code Enforcement, Library Director Thadious Polasek's, and Fire Marshal, Steve Strickland's repots were all included in Council's Packets. The road will be closed throughout construction Conducted al Public Works Budget Meeting FSS will begin the foundation repair tomorrow line while concrete is busted up Plumbing inspection for City Hall failed, currently working on bids to replace the sewer Smoke testing will start this week. We have our own smoke machine sO we can test in- Will attend a pre-construction meeting with M&C Fonseca on June 10th for the 77 Project house Started mosquito spraying 54 out of the approximately 400 signs are installed Garbage Department hauled 15 open-tops and 4 boxes of sludge Electric Department has been doing work and clearing lines out on County Roads 227 and 229 Mr. Moeller thanked Council fori their kind words and complements towards Public Works. Alderman Wick commented that the signs look good. Mayor Koopmann announced that she heard many compliments at the Memorial Day Service and she echoed citizens' appreciation of the City cleaning up the Pavilion after graduation and setting up for the Memorial Service. Alderwoman Klieber asked if the City was still street sweeping. Moeller answered yes but we have been utilizing Gary more with mowing and aerating the ball Moeller also mentioned that they are looking at other options to revamp the fields.
