Belton City Council Meeting July 9, 2024-5:30 P.M.  The Belton City Council met in regular session in the Wright Room of the Harris Community Center. Members present included Mayor David K. Leigh (via Zoom), Mayor Pro Tem John R. Holmes, Sr., Councilmembers Wayne Carpenter, Craig Pearson (via Zoom), Daniel Bucher, Stephanie O'Banion and Dave Covington. Staff present included Sam Listi, Matt Bates, John Messer, Mike Rodgers, Larry Berg, Daniel Aguirre, Jon Fontenot, Bob van Til, Paul Romer, James Grant, Scott Hodde, Megan Odiorne, Amanda Cox, Judy Garrett, Cynthia Hernandez, Kerry Haggard and Alex Munger. The Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag was led by Daniel Bucher. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag was led by Interim Director of Parks and Recreation James 1. Call to order. Proclamation: Parks and Recreation Month - July 2024. (Audio 01:38)  Interim Director of Parks and Recreation James Grant and staff from Parks and Recreation were present to receive the proclamation. Recreation Coordinator Lacey Shoemaker provided information on some activities that would take place during the Councimember O'Banion and Mayor Pro Tem Holmes thanked Parks and Public Works, Police and Fire and other City staff for the roles they played in making the 4. Consider minutes of June 25, 2024, City Council meeting. (Audio 07:28) Upon a motion by Councimember O'Banion and a second by Councimember Carpenter, the minutes were unanimously approved upon a vote of7-0. 5. Consider award of bid and authorizing the BEDC Executive Director to execute acontract with Gage and Cade Construction for the construction of the West Avenue D Extension - Loop 121 to Kennedy Court, and any change orders associated with the contract, not to exceed the amount authorized under State  month in recognition of Parks and Recreation Month.
