Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) recently completed adding channelizer posts ati the exit point for those traveling northbound on the 241 toll road and 91 freeway. Several travelers on that route had requested that additional posts be added to improve traffic flow, prevent queue jumpers, and enhance safety. Mayor Khan announced that she was recently in Columbus, Ohio, for the U.S. Conference of Mayors, where she was invited to speak on energy, homelessness, and a P3 Panel. This provided an opportunity to share about the City's work on energy, compared to funding available through the Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act, the Eviction Diversion pilot program, and ways cities The City of Irvine is launching a new summer event series, Summer in the City, that will feature a variety of family-favorite activities throughout June, July, and August. The series kicks off with Movies on the Lawn at Great Park on Saturday, June 24, with the first movie being Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Members of the public are encouraged to bring low-back chairs, blankets, and a picnic, or to purchase treats from gourmet food trucks, which arrive at 6:30 p.m., and a snack bar. Movies begin after sunset and are weather permitting. In addition, family- friendly concerts at Mike Ward Community Park Woodbridge begin Saturday, July 22, and run through August 19. The concert series features a variety of musical tastes from country, rock, and dance hits to classic soul and orchestra music. The event will include interactive activities, local organizations, and live performances. Councilmember Treseder Councilmember Treseder and her staff attended the 17th Annual Super Pet Adoption and Fundraiser on June 4, 2023. More than 2,000 pet-lovers came together to lend a helping hand and show their love for animals in need, and more than 100 animals found their forever homes. Agency/Greatl Park Meeting June 13, 2023 Vice Mayor Kim Vice Mayor Kim recognized the heroic efforts of Irvine residents Anatolii Kuzmytskyi, Jeff Burcar, and Ahmed Karzai, who saved the life of ac drowning 13- year-old female at a community pool in the Oak Creek area. Mr. Kuzmytskyi was visiting the pool with his family when he realized a teenage girl had gone into the water and had not resurfaced for over a minute. Mr. Kuzmytskyi then took swift action and dove into the pool to pull the unconscious teen from the bottom of the pool along with two other bystanders, Mr. Burcar and Mr. Karzai, who started CPR efforts. After about two minutes of CPR, the victim began to breathe on her own. Vice Mayor Kim also reiterated the number of drownings that occur each year, and encouraged members of the community to take swim and CPR Vice Mayor Kim announced that she returned from a trip to Jeju, South Korea, where she spoke at the Peace and Prosperity Forum, a global conference, about national diplomacy and what the City of Irvine has done in that arena. lessons.
