ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMITTEE REPORISICOUNCIL REPORTS Mayor Khan Mayor Khan noted that she was selected among 39 other Mayors from across the globe to participate in the Harvard Bloomberg City Leader Initiative, which provides mayors with tools to improve public engagement, develop more data driven initiatives, and use multi-agency collaborations for regional projects. Mayor Khan took her summer interns on a field trip to explore the many ways that public transportation could be utilized in the City. The group took an Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) bus from Irvine to the Tustin Station, a Metrolink train to the Irvine Station, and an iShuttle back to City Hall. The group was joined by OCTA and Metrolink teams, and Mike Davis, the City's Transit Programs Administrator. The City's survey partner, Polco, will assist with data collection; and all information collected is confidential and no identifying information will be shared. Councilmember Treseder Councilmember Treseder provided brief updates pertaining to the Orange County Power Authority (OCPA), which included approval of a strategic plan that highlighted six key focus areas to be covered over a three-year period, and refinement of OCPA's Mission Statement. In addition: OCPA is working on refreshing its website to provide more clarity, transparency, and information, which is scheduled to launch in August. The Board discussed the County's liability with respect to its withdrawal from OCPA. According to the Joint Powers Agreement, the County of Orange is responsible for the cost ofresource adequacy capacity that could not be sold for the months of November and December of 2023, for which the total liability is $888,000. In addition, OCPA incurred additional expenses to pay for professional advisors to address legal and regulatory issues, for which the liability is approximately $25,000. OCPA sent an invoice to the County of Orange for liabilities in the amount of slightly under $1,000,000. Irvine was selected to represent the United States in the contest. The finalist will travel to compete against other finalists from different countries, and one of the finalists going to Korea is from Irvine.
