Town Council Called Council Meeting Minutes January 2,2024 The Town Council of Bedford, Virginia, held a called meeting on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level training room in the Bedford County Administration Building at 122 East Main Street, Bedford, Virginia. Town Council members present: Councilman Tim Black, Councilman Bob Carson, Councilman Todd Foreman, Councilman Stacey Hailey, Councilman Bruce Johannessen, Councilman C. G. Stanley, and Councilman Darryl Updike Town Staff present: Town Manager Bart Warner, Town Attorney Michael Lockaby, Finance Director Anne Cantrell, Clerk of Council Debra B. Anderson, and Recording Secretary Julia Peters Clerk of Council Anderson opened the meeting and led all present in saying the Pledge of Clerk of Council Anderson stated that the meeting was called as an organizational meeting for the Town Council. She asked the newly elected members of the Council to come forward to be sworn-in. Mrs. Anderson administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected Council members as they repeated the Oath. Each councilman then signed and received his individual Certificate of Allegiance to the Flag. Election: Mr. Tim Black Mr. Bob Carson Mrs. Todd Foreman Mr. Stacey Hailey Mr. Bruce Johannessen Mr. C.G. Stanley Mr. Darryl Updike Council members took seats at the table and Clerk of Council Anderson opened the floor for nominations for the office ofMayor. 01/02/2024 Page1 Mr. Hailey nominated Councilman Tim Black for the office of Mayor for the year of2024. Mr. Stanley seconded the nomination. There were no further nominations. Black as Mayor oft the Town of Bedford. Mr. Hailey moved, seconded by Mr. Stanley, to close the nominations and declare Councilman Voted upon and carried by the following roll call vote: Councilman Black Councilman Carson Councilman Foreman Councilman Hailey Councilman Johannessen aye Councilman Stanley Councilman Updike aye aye aye aye aye aye The motion carried with seven members voting aye. Mrs. Anderson administered the Oath ofOffice to Tim Black as Mayor. Mayor Black opened the floor for nominations for the office of Vice Mayor. Mr. Johannessen nominated Councilman C. G. Stanley for the office of Vice Mayor of the Town ofBedford. Mr. Hailey seconded the nomination. There were: no further nominations. Mr. Hailey moved, seconded by Mr. Updike, to close the nominations and declare Councilman C.G. Stanley as Vice Mayor of the Town of Bedford. Mrs. Anderson administered the Oath of Office to C.G.
