Town Of Windsor 124 Main Street Windsor, NY13865 Telephone (607)655-2026  30  March 2, 2021 Dear Windsor Resident:  The Town has had numerous inquiries from residents about their lack of access to the internet as well asi inquiries from residents that have slow, unreliable internet. The Town would like to have every resident have access to cable or fiber for internet service. However, we need to know exactly where there is cable and fiber and where there is no cable or fiber. We are very pleased that residents have volunteered to help map our town. We are starting that mapping ini the southwest corner oft the Town where we believe there is no cable or fiber or very little ofit. When a volunteer contacts you for information about your lack ofi internet Why is this mapping important? The current maps the federal government has are faulty. In fact, the federal FCC has undertaken a project to map the entire country for where the internet isa and isn't. When that project is complete, each municipality in the country, including the Town of Windsor, will receive a map of the municipality to review. With our own mapping already done, we will be able to either verify the FCC work or submit what we believe is the Int the meanwhile, the Town is working with Adams Cable and TDS to encourage further expansion ini the Town.
