This Agreement will automatically renew each fiscal year unless ai notice of termination is provided by the County to the Town or from the Town to the County prior to each March 31. Upon notice oft termination oft this Interlocal Agreement, the County shall deliver to the Town all tax records, in a customary electronic data format, or in whatever form held in its hands, pertaining toi its listing, billing, and collecting, oft the tax bills, tax scrolls, and other related records by April 1 of the fiscal year in which the termination shall be effective. The County shall continue to collect current and delinquent taxes through June 30 ofthe 3 fiscal year in which the termination shall be effective. Upon termination oft the Interlocal Agreement the County shall provide a full accounting to the Town oft the status ofall tax collections. After. The Parties agree that this Interlocal Agreement is subject to the jurisdiction and laws oft the State ofNorth Carolina. Memorial Bridge BI RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT TO RENAME THE RUSSELL'S CREEK BRIDGE ON HIGHWAY 101 TO THE PATROLMAN WILLIAM "BILL" JAMES SMITH, JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE WHEREAS, pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 136-18 (8), the North Carolina WHEREAS, the Carteret County Board of Commissioners desires to honor former North Carolina Highway Patrolman W.J. Smith, Jr. for his bravery, service, and ultimate sacrifice to our County by renaming the Russell's Creek Bridge the Patrolman William "Bill" Board of Transportation may name roads, bridges or ferries; and James Smith, Jr. Memorial Bridge; and WHEREAS, Patrolman Smith was assigned to Troop A, District 8, and served with the WHEREAS, on January 12, 1974 Patrolman Smith was killed in a patrol car collision while pursuing a traffic violator on NC 101 at the Russell's Creek Bridge when his vehicle North Carolina Highway Patrol for 25 years; and struck a bridge abutment and burst into flames; and WHEREAS, Patrolman Smith was 50 years old when he was killed in the line of duty leaving behind a wife, daughter, and young son, Jay Smith, who also served our community as an Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent; and WHEREAS, the family of Patrolman Smith supports this request in his honor. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Carteret County Board of Commissioners does hereby request the North Carolina Board of Transportation rename the Russell's Creek Bridge on Highway 101 to the Patrolman William "Bill" James Smith, Jr. Memorial Bridge ADOPTED this the 3rd day of June 2024.
