Glen. Alpine Board of Alderman Meeting Minutes December 11th, 2023 6 pm Present: Mayor Benfield, Clerk Reed, S. Perkins, R. Scott, M. Lewis,J. Miller & L. Boone Call to Order- Mayor Benfield called the meeting to order at 6pm Approval of Agenda- S. Perkins made motion to approve the agenda; Pass! 5-0 tot the Clerk. R. Scott commented the Police Report needs more detail. the details he wanted. M. Lewis made motion to approve dept reports; Pass 5-0 Approval of Minutes-. J. Miller made motion to approve Minutes; Pass 5-0 Approval of Department Reports- M. Lewis asked about Fire Department Report which wasn't provided Mayor Benfield told R. Scott to make an appointment to meet with Clerk Reed and Police Chief to discuss Public Comments: No public comments Items for Decision: Election of Mayor Pro-Tem Mayor Benfield stated the nomination for Mayor Pro- Tem would bet to act as Mayori in his absence. Sign checks, bank: statements and invoices and any item required to have additional signature with the Finance Officer/Clerk. R. Denton asked if anyone has had to do this since he has been Mayor. Mayor Benfield said Rodney Cox, prior Mayor Pro-Tem has signed instruments if he was unavailable for short term but that's all. J. Miller asked ifi it has to be al board member. Benfield answered yes. R. Scott nominated Michelle Lewis. M. Lewis stated it could be difficult for her due to her work schedule. She is not sure if she could commit. R. Scott said he doesn't work but he isn'ti familiar enough to take the role. M. Lewis asked how often do checks need to be: signed. Clerk Reed answered checks are printed on Thursday. Benfield stated byl law we have to establish a Mayor Pro-Tem. M. Lewis stated she would accept the nomination since nobody else wants to doi it. Alli in favor; Pass 5-0 Set Monthly Meeting Dates & Times for 2024 Benfield said its always been the 2nd Monday of each month, need ar motion to stay the same. Alli in Favor; Pass! 5-0 Vehicles sold on GovDeals Benfield explained that both vehiçles sold for the amount of $9600 Bids for Sidewalks Benfield explained that we contacted several concrete companies and we only received (1) bid from S. Perkins made motion that the bidi from Gehmans Concrete be approved to repair sidewalks. Pass! 5-0 Benfield said no but these repairs need tol be done as quick as we can because they are dangerous. There's also additional manpower required for flaggers etc and we don't! have the manpower to do it. J.I Miller said he looked at the sidewalk in front of Mr. Swinks house and its busted up. Buti if we need to R. Scott asked if we could go ahead and get whats quoted done for now then discuss the additional at the next meeting because there are other places that need to be looked at. He said we need to get out and look. S. Perkins made motion that we: approve what we currently have in the areas specified ont the Gehmans. J. Miller asked ifi its tool late to add other areas that need repair. wait we can. current bid. Pass! 5-0 L. Boone asked where the funding comes out off fori this. Benfield answered Powell Bill whichi is money that the state allows depending on the towns population and the needi fori it. Meeting adjourned
