Regular Meeting Minutes for November 13, 2023 Members Present: Mayor Benfield, Clerk Reed, R. Cox, S. Perkins,  J. Miller, M. Lewis, Attorney R. Denton  CALL TO ORDER-Mayor Benfield called the meeting to order at 6pm  INVOCATION-Moment of silence & prayer AUDIT REPORT presented by Carol Avery  PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE  APPROVAL OF AGENDA-Motion made by Cox to approve agenda;  Passed 4-0  APPROVAL OF DEPARTMENT REPORTS-Motion made by Miller to approve APPROVAL OF MINUTES-Motion made by Cox to approve minutes;  dept reports; Passed 4-0  Passed 4-0 PUBLIC COMMENTS-  Tim Suttles-asked if a decision had been made to refund money for a speeding ticket that was given to the individual that wasn'tspeeding. Benfield- answered that he had talked to Chief Cox and Officer Smith and the answer is no. He added that Mr. Suttles wasn't there when it happened  SO his information is hearsay.  NEW BUSINESS/ITEMS FOR DECISION  SIDEWALK REPAIRS:  Miller asked if we just have the one bid.    Mr. Reid Scott stated he knew a man that would bid but didn'tget a chance to  bid.  Miller asked if we would use ARP Funds. Benfield answered Powell Bill.  Mr. Reid Scott gave a business card for a local concrete guy.  Denton stated the rules on bidding anything under $30k is flexible. He suggested Benfield said we can table this decision and we'll try to get in touch with other  sending it by email. companies to bid. Benfield stated yes.  Miller asked if we'd have to table it until December.  Lewis asked if we could preapprove for tonight until a lower bid is received. Benfield stated that the lowest bid isn'ta always the best but we should wait. Perkins said she didn'tt think we should necessarily go with whoever the lowest bid. She added we should also do some kind of reference and background check  on the work they do.  Miller made the motion to table until December. Pass 4-0  CHRISTMAS PARADE-Dec 2, at 2 pm  Lewis asked if we can get an update on the sign that needs repaired. Denton & Perkins had discussion about the 5th Annual Christmas Breakfast  Lewis asked for an update on training for new Clerk.  sponsored by Rob Denton.
