Meeting Minutes Glen Alpine Board of Aldermen Regular Meeting January 10, 2022 Present: Mayor Benfield, M. Lewis, S. Perkins, (entered at 6:10pm) R.C Cox, J. Miller, Attorney Denton, Clerk M. Lalonde CALL TO ORDER -Mayor Benfield called the meeting to order at 6pm INVOCATION- Moment of Silence PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE APPROVAL OF AGENDA- Motion made by Cox to approve the agenda; APPROVAL OF DEPT REPORIS-Motion made by Lewis to approve Dept APPROVAL OF MINUTES-Motion made by Cox to approve minutes of las PUBLIC COMMENTS- Ursula McDaniels: Ms. McDaniels lives on Allen St. and is asking when the bridge on Allen Street will be fixed. Mayor advised that we are trying to get someone to come out and inspect and advise on how repairs should be done. Shirley McDaniels suggested that we use pipe. Clerk Lalonde. stated that she has a meeting at the COG and will be asking if there are any grants that we could receive to help with the repairs. Mrs. McDaniels also states that she is concerned with the appearance of some houses on Main St. and would like to see it cleaned up. Code enforcement officer Boliek stated that he had been to that residence and even called DSS, passed 3-0 reports; Passed 3-0 meeting; Passed 3-0 but that DSS stated there was nothing they could do either. Old Business: ARP Funds-Mayor Benfield stated that the final rule has finally came down and that the Board will be working on how to spend the funds for the Town. <5 New Business: Golden Leaf for Businesses-Mayor Benfield stated that there were some grants available for businessès and Shery Long with Cog will be coming up to help our business owners apply the grant that is available to them. Mid-Year Budgêt Update-presented by Clerk Lalonde; see attached Premium Pay for Employees-Mayor Benfield is proposing giving the employees a $1000 bonus up front and $2 extra an hour of premium pay Alderman Helms was not in attendance but asked that the Mayor let the people know that the state was getting $1000 in bonus and he is concerned about the employee once the money is cut out. Also, the Mayor wants the (ARP FUNDS) for a total of $5160 for the year Board to know that this does not act as a pay raise. Cox exited the meeting at 6:48pm Items for Decision: Premium Pay for Employees-Motion made by Miller to pay each employee $1290/qtr. for the year; Passed 3-0 (Helms & Cox not present to vote) Perkins made a motion to pay $10 extra dollars per call for the FD for the year; passed 3-0 Perkins made a motion to adjourn at 6:59; Passed 3-0
