Meeting Minutes Glen Alpine Board of Aldermen Regular Meeting September 28, 2020 Present: Mayor Benfield, R. Cox, S. Perkins, G. Meise, T. Suttles, T. Helms, Attorney R. Denton, Clerk M. Lalonde CALLTOORDER- Mayor Benfield INVOCATION- Tim Suttles PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE personnel matter- Passed 4-0 APPROVAL OF AGENDA-Suttles motioned to amend the agenda to add closed session regarding APPROVAL OF DEPARTMENT REPORTS- Motion made by Helms, passed 4-0 APPROVAL OF MINUTES-Motion made by Cox, passed 4-0 PUBLIC COMMENTS- Frank Robinson... Mr. Robinson thanks the public works department for repairing a pothole on his street, he also thanks the FD for filling the open position. Mr. Robinson wants more officers added to the PD, includinga detective. Hei feels the PD deserves some assistance and wants the Board tos support them, he stated that the money was there and the Board needs to get away from politics and run the town likea business and use common sense. Mr. Robinson feels that the board needs to start working together at getting things done immediately and encouraged the Board members to get out int the community and talk with the residents. He stated that alli the members were elected by the people, and the people pay their taxes, and the residents are owed this. OLD BUSINESS: Beautification: To date the beautification committee has spent $22,609.52, leaving al balance of Fire Truck Resale: The Board discussed: selling the old Fire Truck that is located at Pilot Mountain School Case Tractor Resale: The Board discussed selling the Case Tractor from our Public Works department, $12090.48 with a minimum bid of $5000.00-Gov Deals with a minimum bid of $2000.00--Govi Deals NEW BUSINESS: Parking Lot Paving: The Board is considering paving the parking lot to Town Hall, Helms made a motion ALOWEEN/CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES: The Board will vote on Halloween activities, but will wait on that we wait to vote until wel have more accurate bid from.
