BURKE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS 2128 SOUTH STERLING STREET-SUITE 100 MORGANTON NC 28655 TUESDAY FEBRUARY 20, 2024 3RD ABSENTEE BALLOT MEETING  Attending; LH Kirksey, Sandi Walker, Beverly Carlton, Linda Walker, and Anthony Iovino.  Staff; Kenny Rhyne, Trent Price Guests: Barbara Myers  Chairman LH Kirksey called the meeting to order at 10:00AM, led the Pledge of Allegiance, Anthony Iovino made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. All approved.  followed by a moment ofs silence. Public comments: None  Business:  Interim Director Kenny Rhyne made his presentation beginning with update on early voting totals. Asof2-19-20249 956 votes have been cast. (697 Republican ballots and 259 Democrat ballots) Twenty more absentee ballots have been sent to Magnolia Lane Assisted Living. 48 absentee ballots have been received for the board members toj process at this meeting. 4 ballots received have been spoiled, 33 absentees have ID exceptions to be approved/rejected, and Trent Price opened the DS 200 and verified with the board members the public count of 18. The board members processed and approved the the ID exception absentee ballots, processed and approved the 11 ID exception absentee ballots that had been brought in by the MAT team, signed all envelopes for the absentees and opened the ballots to be tabulated in the DS200. After feeding the ballots into the DS 200, Trent verified with the board members the new public count Anthony Iovino made a motion to adjourn at 10:45AM.All approved.  11 absentee ballots that are properly submitted.  of6 62 and closed the machine.
