BURKE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS 2128 SOUTH STERLING STREET-SUITE 100  MORGANTON NC 28655 MONDAY APRIL 01, 2024 SPECIAL CALLED MEETING  2PM  AttendingLH Kirksey, Sandi Walker, Beverly Carlton, Linda Walker, and Anthony Iovino.  Staff; Kenny Rhyne Guests; none  Chairman LH Kirksey called the meeting to order at 2 PM, led the Pledge of Allegiance,  followed by a moment of silence. Public comments; none  Linda Walker moved to approve the agenda as presented. All approved.  Business:  Interim Director Kenny Rhyne gave a brief update on merge of the two polling locations submitted to the State Board of Elections. The state has approved the combining of Morganton 1 with Morganton 4 for the second primary. The Burke County Board of Elections has sent out 1100 letters to the affected voters. Signage will also be placed on Anthony Iovino made a motion to go into closed session at 2:07 PM to discuss  election day along with appropriate advertising. personnel matters. All approved. Interim director Kenny Rhyne was excused.  Chairman LH Kirksey called the open session back to order at 2:55 PM.  Chairman LH Kirksey made a motion to hold another special called meeting on April 03, 2024 at 11 AM to review applications and resumes for Elections Director. All approved.
