Madison Street, Whiteville, NC, 28472. Advisement of Virtual Meeting. The Whiteville City Council intends to meet with our local legislative delegation to discuss growth, infrastructure needs, and potential funding sources for the City of Whiteville at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 in Council Chambers at City Hall located at 317 S. Madison Street, Mayor Mann welcomed everyone to the meeting with special thanks to Senator Britt, Representative Smith, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Rouzer and Representative Jones. He introduced Council Member Vickie Pait and Madison Ward. He made comments regarding the recent letter that the City recently sent to our legislative delegation regarding funding resources. He deferred to Mr. Currie fora presentation pertaining to projects that need funding resources. Mr. Currie described the agenda for the meeting, 1) discussion of the Downtown Master plan, its phases, desired funding, and partnering with NCDOT, 2) discussion of Storm-Water funding, 3) discussion of the FEMA BRIC program, and 4) a Q&A session. Mr. Currie deferred to Mr. Lewis regarding the Downtown Master Plan. Mr. Lewis reviewed the different phases, desired funding, and storm water management. He advised that NCDOT would be a partner in this project moving forward. Mr. Currie provided comments as to how to move forward and asked the legislative delegation to provide some insights related to potential funding sources for the plan and potentially to NCDOT for their part of the project. Mr. Currie deferred to Mr. Brown for a review of the City's financials regarding the Downtown Master plan and storm water Senator Britt applauded the City fori its efforts and funding put forth regarding the Downtown Master plan and stormwater projects. He stated that the City's efforts make it more attractive for potential funding resources. Hes stated that Representative Jones did want to be present for the meeting but there was a conflict and that he supports the City. He and other legislative delegates advised that they felt strongly that they would be able to help with finding funding resources. Senator Britt asked that the City prepared a detailed list of projects, future and completed, with a cost estimate per project. Senator Britt advised that five counties (Columbus, Bladen, Robeson, Pitt, and Wayne) had been selected for flood relief funding. Representative Smith stated thati it was good that the City had aj plan, a plan must exist in order to seek funding resources. Mr. Currie deferred to Mr. Lowder.
