Madison Street, Whiteville, NC, 28472 The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Whiteville was called to order on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at 317 S. Madison Street, Whiteville, NC, 28472. 1) ROLL CALL PRESENT: ABSENT: Terry Mann, Kevin Williamson, Jimmy Clarida, Tim Collier, Joshua Harris, Helen B Holden, and Vickie Pait None. BUSINESS 7) 8) 8.1) FYE2024 Budget Amendment #10_Dump Truck Timing nranicne nhn?clin 1/3 4/17/24,4:21PM RegularN Meetingo of the City Council Mr. Brown stated a dump truck was ordered by the City of Whiteville in one fiscal year, but was delivered in the proceeding fiscal year. The purchase order for the paving crew dump truck was originated in FYE2023. However, due to supply chain delays the original purchase order was closed out and a new purchase order was opened in Jimmy Clarida MOVED to approve Budget Amendment #10 - Dump FYE2024, requiring an amendment to the budget. VOTE: 7-0 (Unanimous) Yeas: 7 (Terry Mann, Kevin Williamson, Jimmy Clarida, Tim Collier, Joshua Harris, Helen B Holden, Vickie Pait) Nays: 0 Absent: 0 9) COUNCIL COMMENTS Mayor Pro Tem Williamson asked about a large pile of trash on Lee Street and asked if there was a way to punish the offenders. Mr. Currie noted the issue is determining and proving who actually dumped the materials. If the offender is caught, then they can be fined. He stated in some areas within the City, cameras had been set up to try and catch the offenders. However, the cameras were then stolen. It was stated that maybe a public relations campaign may help with this, with information included on the water bills and Council Member Pait stated she was glad to be back at tonight's meeting. She was unable to attend the previous Council Meeting due to surgery. on the website, as well as shared with media. 10) REPORTS Mr. Currie reported on the following items: 1. Lee and Franklin Sewer Projects - Mr. Currie stated this week the City received official notification of intent to fund this project. He noted this was a $6.8 Million project, with $1.5 Million in loan forgiveness. The letter establishes timelines and milestones the City must! hit over the next 2 1/2 years. 2. Budget - The City continues to work on the budget. As of now, staff is waiting for some pricing to come in on insurance and other items that are 3. Invitation to Opening Ceremonies - The Wolfpack Optimist have extended an invitation to Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Optimist Field. Mr. Currie asked any Council Members that plan to attend to let Mrs. Dowless know so the City could respond to the invitation. 4. New Airport Terminal Groundbreaking - This groundbreaking will be held tomorrow, April 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Council Members are invited to attend 5.
