PRESENTATION  8.1) Law Enforcement Recognition: Detective Michael Strickland  Meshahewdagmuscm.wvanrolnap id=249&doc -6a33815:0403-11e6231-00505891836a  1/2    4/26/24, 3:48PM  Regular Meeting oft the City Council  Chief Ipock presented Detective Michael Strickland with his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. Chief Ipock stated there were thousands of hours of training involved in obtaining this certificate. On behalf of the Mayor and Council, Mayor Pro Tem Williamson congratulated Detective Strickland on earning his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. A round of applause and standing ovation was given by all present. Chief Ipock introduced two new Police Officers to the Whiteville Police Department- Officer Terry Whaley, Jr. and Officer Brad Wilder. Kimberly Bullock administered the Oath to both Officers. Chief Ipock presented the police badge to both Officers. On behalf of the Mayor and Council, Mayor Pro Tem Williamson congratulated both Officers. A round of  8.2) Police Badge Pinning  applause and standing ovation was given by all present.  9)  BUSINESS None. 10) COUNCIL COMMENTS None. 11) REPORTS  11.1) Manager's Update for April 23, 2024 Mr. Currie reported on the following items:  1. Provalus Project Mr. Currie stated there was another meeting last week with Provalus and the City of Whiteville's local team. The project is moving well. There are ai few things that are being worked on to trim some of the cost from the project. The architect is working on putting together a more detailed budget for review. Provalus leadership is happy with the process and is excited about the project moving forward. 2. Mollie's Branch Update Mr. Currie stated the design team has a meeting scheduled for tomorrow with the City of Whiteville and Whiteville City Schools Superintendent, Jonathan Williams. Some of the proposed work to be completed will involve work on the Central Middle School campus. This work would benefit both the campus itself  and the surrounding area.  12) ADJOURNMENT  Vickie Pait MOVED to approve the adjournment of tonight's meeting.  Jimmy Clarida SECONDED the motion.
