TOWN OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN Held their regular monthly meeting on January 8, 2018 at 8:00pm in the. Jimmie. L. Morris Boardroom.  I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton.  II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Billy Whitford, Alderman Dennis Smith, Alderman Earl Wright, and Alderman Todd  McMillen.  III. Invocation by Alderman McMillen. IV. Pledge of Allegiance.  V. Approval ofr minutes from last meetings Alderman Whitford made a motion to approve minutes as read. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VI. Approval ofCash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VII. Police Report presented by ChiefJenkins. The Police Department has applied for a grant for electronics upgrade. The driver of the Dollar General robbery has been charged, we are still looking for the gunman. Two (2) individuals have been charged with stealing propane tanks. The Police. Department has a lot oft training and award ceremonies, VIII. Mayor's Report. Happy Birthday wishes go out to Public Works Employees Tevin Long and Vernon Edwards, and to Officer Tim Padgett. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Willis Odom, Janel Bryan, Bobby Adams and Elmer Leary. OurLetter of Intent to Duke-Water Resource Grant got us a Invitation to Apply for the Grant. Ditch repairs will begin again when the snow and water clear out ofhere. Wesurvived 100+ hours ofs sub-freezing temperatures. Thanks to Vernon Edwards, Michael Bryant and John Raines during the snow event. Your) hard work and dedication is appreciative. Bailey Lane water tank is scheduled for exterior painting to be completed by the end of March. Wel have not officially closed on the White Street property. Annual Water Consumer Confidence Report is now online. Please encourage everyone to receive utility bill by e-mail and use auto draft for payment. Go Green and Save: a Tree. Town Hall will be closed January 15th in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. Weare  scheduled.  still looking at Dog Breeding Ordinances.    IX. Alderman Reports.  Alderman Wright had no comment. Alderman Dunn had no comment.  Alderman Smith wants everyone to be safe out there.  Alderman Whitford thanked Vernon and his crew for keeping everything running and  stated hel has been asked about clearing the streets after the snow.  Alderman McMillen had no comment.  X.
