TOWN OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING  Heldi their regular monthly meeting on February. 5, 2018 at 8:00PM in the, Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom  I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton.  II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Billy Whitford, Alderman Todd McMillen and Alderman Dennis Smith. Those. Absent:  Alderman Earl Wright.  III. Invocation by Alderman Billy Whitford.  IV. Pledge of Allegiance.  V. Approval ofminutes from last meeting. Alderman Dunn made a motion to approve minutes as read. Motion was seconded by Alderman Whitford and carried. Vote 4-0. VI. Approval ofCash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Smith made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by. Alderman Whitford and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Police Report. Police Report presented by ChiefJenkins. It's been a busy month for the department. Attended the Opioid Workshop, Chief Conference, BBQI Plate Sale Meeting, and Do The Right Thing at the VFLES. Our plate sale is scheduled for April 7, 2018. VIII. Mayor Report. Public works director Vernon Edwards is sick. Vanceboro native, Mr. William Cleve's wife, Amanda passed away. Our condolences go out to the family. Ditch repair will begin soon. White Street property sale has been closed. Debt setoff has been updated for this tax season. Collecting information on a dog breeding ordinance for the town. Episcopal Church has been sold as well as other vacant houses are being filled in town. We are: finalizing the Mutual Aid Agreement between the' Town and thel Fire Department. The unlicensed vehicles have been removed from across the road by Vera's Diner. Water tank repairs at] Bailey Lane are getting started. Flu season is among us - stay home if diagnosed, get flu shot and wash your hands often. Thewindows at the library will be replaced soon. Duke grant was submitted for the property beside the  Town Hall.    IX. Alderman Reports.  Alderman Dunn - Attended the Library Board Meeting, they have two positions open. Tax forms are: available at thel library. Commissioner Tom Marks will be having a Alderman Whitford - Attended the. East Carolina Council Meeting. Iwill be taking a  meeting at thel library.  class to learn more about the council and what they have to offer.  Alderman Smith -] Had no comment. Alderman McMillen- -] Had no comment.  X. Closed Session. Alderman McMillen made a motion to go into closed session in accordance with NCGS 143-318.11()(6). Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and XI. Open Session. Alderman Whitford made a motion to return to open session. Motion was  carried. Vote 4-0.  seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 4-0. XII. Public Comment. There were no comments.  XIII.
