Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Billy Whitford, Alderman Todd McMillen, and Alderman Earl Wright (Arrived at 8:10p.m.). Those Absent: Alderman Dennis Smith. II. Invocation by Alderman Dunn. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval of minutes from last meeting. Alderman Whitford made a motion to approve minutes as read. Resolution to. Approve Municipal Clerks Week May 6-12, 2018. Alderman McMillen made ar motion to approve the Resolution to Approve Municipal Clerks Week. Motion was IX. Police Report. Police Report presented by ChiefJenkins. Radars were calibrated this month. The department assisted with al DWI checking station in Pamlico County. This month's Community Watch meeting was about fraudulent activity. Attended the awards ceremony at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary. The winner forl March for Do the Right Thing was Ahmani Beasley. We closed a fraudulent case here in Vanceboro which resulted in 72 felonies. We have 7500 points in the Governor's Highway Safety program. Thank you to all businesses that supported our calendar fundraiser to raise funds for by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote 3-0. seconded by Alderman Whitford and carried. Vote 4-0. National Night Out. X. Mayor Report. Community Watch meetings arel held on the 2nd Monday night of the month here at the Town Hall. Craven County Board of Commissioners voted to have Swift Creek cleaned-up and toj join in a class action lawsuit for Opiods. We have collected $1,897 in March from Debt Setoff. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter and enjoyed time with family. Sergeant Callaway is celebrating al birthday this month. Tony Chesson, planning board member, is in thel hospital and in need of prayer. Budget workshop willl bel held May 14"at5:30 p.m. Presentation ofbudget will be on June 4, 2018 at our Board Meeting. June 25th at 12:00 p.m. will be the Public Hearing for the budget. Ditch work was completed in the four locations in town. There are no updates on the Bailey Lane water tank. We didn'treceive the grant from Duke for the park. Attended the CRC meeting, Larry Dail was promoted to Superintendent over seven prisons. Carolina East Medical Center was nominated in the top 51 in our state. Craven County Hopel Program meets monthly. Strawberry Festival will be held May 4# and 5t. Wewill place signs throughout town to stop for school buses. XI. Alderman Reports.
