TOW OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING  Held their regular monthly meeting O11 June 4, 2018 at 8:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom  I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton.  II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith, Alderman Billy Whitford and Alderman Earl  Wright.  III. Invocation by Alderman McMillen. IV. Pledge of Allegiance.  V. Approval ofminutes from last meeting. Alderman Dunn made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote  5-0.  VI. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman McMillen and carried. Vote 5-0. VII. Extend FY16-17 Audit Report by James Overton of Carr, Riggs & Ingram. Alderman Dunn made a motion to extend FY16-17 Audit Report by James Overton of Carr, Riggs & Ingram. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VIII. Police Report. Police Report presented by ChiefJenkins. May 4-5 was the Vanceboro Strawberry Festival, it was a success this year. Attended meetings for gang activity and opioid subcommittee this month. Malik Brown was this month's "Do the Right Thing" winner at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School. Helped with a DWI checking station. We now have around 8000 safety points in the Governor's Highway Safety IX. Mayor Report. AlI Star Lawn Care won the bid at $550/month for maintaining the Vanceboro cemeteries. Hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day, thank you to all who paid the price for our freedom. Alderman Whitford will be celebrating a birthday this month. Long time resident of 30-years passed away, Mrs. Nellie Jones. Our condolences go out to the family, she will be missed by this community. No updates to report on the Bailey Lane Water Tank. The drainage issues on Buck Lane are being worked on. The: adoption of the FY17-18 Budget will be held on June 25th at 12:00 p.m. in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom. The property by the cemetery was mowed. The  Program.    two houses on Grand Avenue have been removed. July 9th, willl be our next Town Board Meeting. Visited with the Family Literacy Program at Vanceboro Farm Life and talked about the' Town. Congratulations to Tabari Wallace, Principal at West Craven High School for being named Principal of the Year. Graduation will be. June 9th at West Craven. Congratulations to Sydney, my daughter for being 2A Conference Cheerleader ofthe Year, and ChiefJunior Marshall for graduation. Congratulations to Dawsyn Smith, Alderman Smith's daughter, for a 4.0 GPA all four: years of high school. Community Watch meeting was about the truth on spoofing, information handouts is available in the" Town Hall. Donald Phillips, local carpenter, has offered his services to do  some upgrades at the park across from the funeral home.  X. Alderman Reports.  Alderman Dunn - Thank you to Sgt. Calloway for providing quality information to our Community Watch program. Made a recommendation for the Police Department to Alderman McMillen - Will get up with Travis Shepard regarding the park and will  provide a link to the information on spoofing to their website.  gather more information.
