TOW OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING Held their regular monthly meeting on August 6, 2018 at 8:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton. II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Dennis Smith, Alderman Billy Whitford, and Alderman Todd McMillen. Those Absent: Alderman Earl Wright. III. Invocation by Alderman Whitford. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval ofi minutes from last mectings Alderman Smith made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote 4-0. VI. Approval ofCash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. Officer Michael Anthony attended Radar School. July 9-13. Chip Hughes donated two Panasonic Computers and Brother Printers to our Police Department. We are very grateful to him for his generous donations and desire to see our department succeed. Our new police car should be available in September or October. We held a DWI Checking Station on July 27th which resulted in 16 charges and 1 fugitive being captured. We now have VII. Mayor's Report. Would like to weicome Brittany Singleton to our Town as Assistant Clerk. Beverly Drake is now Town Clerk. Alderman Wright, Pernell Fields and Officer Michael Anthony celebrate birthdays in August. Pernell Fields was hospitalized a couple of days but is back to work and doing fine. Dana Rice, town resident, passed away; our condolences go out to the family. The water tank repairs at Bailey Lane are still inj process, will be done soon. Our town park on Farm Life Avenue looks really good from the renovations, thank you to Donald Phillips for all your hard work. Vanceboro Police Department's preseription drop offbox opened today, with Commissioner Tom Mark, ChiefJenkins, Craven County's Public 8,755 points in the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Information Officer Diana Vetter Craft,and myself in attendance. Michael Bryant, public works department passed his C-Distribution exam, congratulations to him. John Raines will be taking his certification exam for WW2 operator in September. WCHS football will host their first game on August 17", against Havelock. Come out and support your local team. National Night Out was very successful. Community Watch meeting will be held at the' Town Hall on August 13+h at 7:00 p.m. Timothy Downs, Economic Development Director with Craven County stepped down from his position to pursue a career inj practicing law, we wish him the best in this new endeavor. Chief Jenkins reattached the gutter at the' Town Hall. Alderman Smith changed light bulbs at the library and police department. Thank you both for your work to the IX. Alderman Dunn attended the Library Board Meeting. Craven Smart Start did Alderman Whitford stated the basketball goal is available to the Town from Vanceboro Methodist Church. He and his wife Linda were celebrating 40 years of Alderman Smith thanked Beverly Drake, Brittany Singleton and Vernon Edwards town. XI.
