Invocation by Alderman Smith. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval ofi minutes from last meetings Alderman Dunn made a motion to approve minutes as corrected. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote VI. Approval ofCash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Smith made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Whitford and carried. Vote 3-0. VII. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. National Night Out went well, would like to thank everyone for their help in making this successful. Prescription drop box is going well. Back to school event was successful, thanks to everyone who participated. We helped with a DWI checking station in. Jones County on the 17th. On August 24h, we received a call to do a security check at 305 Mill Avenue, upon arriving we found the lady deceased. SBI isi investigating. Iattended a management leadership class on the 20. We have 8,955 points in the Governor's Highway 2007 Dodge Charger - motor is gone, warranty has been out for three months. Boyd's Automotive- - it can be fixed with a one year warranty for $3,800 ori it Alderman Whitford made a motion to fix 2007 Dodge Charger for $3,800. Bloodhound Tracking Dog- - Thel PD was donated a dog that will be capable of helping ini investigations such as: missing person, stolen goods, person runs from a scene, etc. The PD was given $1,000 donation to help purchase a kennel, 3-0. Safety Program. will cost $25 to $26K to purchase a new car. harnesses, bullet proof vest and other needed supplies. I am requesting a $1,500 budget each year tol help feed the dog, get his shots, worm the dog and take care Alderman Whitford made a motion to approve the $1.500 budget for taking care of police dog. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote: 3-0. VIII. Mayor's Report. Wewill honor Richard W. Bowers at our October meeting. The park will be named "Richard Bowers Memorial Park". A message was sent out through Phonetree regarding Hurricane Florence, trash pickup and recycling. Public works is on call, all generators, gas and water tanks are full and ready to go. Sample was pulled today at the Bailey Lane water tank, should be back up and running normal soon. Iattended the Craven County Parks and Recreation meeting. Cameras are being placed at WC Park. The Back to School Bash was in the Hope newspaper, everyone great had a great and safe Labor Day. Hall of Fame for West Craven High School will be September 28"h. Watch out for our kids since school is back in session. Thanks to Alderman! Smith and Alderman Dunn for their help at WCHS football games. Town Clerk and Assistant Clerk are cleaning and doing well. Our hearts go out to the family ofCarolyn Patterson. Town Clerk's Father-in-law is in the hospital and not doing well. There will be a Women's Empowerment mecting here at the' Town Hall on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Local election is coming up in November. Voting willl be for Clerk of Court, Craven County Commissioners, Board of Education and Craven County Sheriff. Sand media was completed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, ammonia levels are good now. The library will havea ribbon cutting for Smart Start next Monday. Vanceboro United Methodist Church has a new parking lot, it looks really nice. Community Watch meetings has been discontinued for now due to lack of participation. ChiefJenkins and myself attended a dinner for the new principal of James W. Smith Elementary, Sherri Thomas.
