Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith, and Alderman Billy Whitford. Those absent: Alderman Earl Wright. III. Invocation by Vernon Edwards. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval ofminutes from last meetings Alderman Smith made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote 4-0. VI. Approval ofCash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. Thank you to our officers for dedicating their time overnight to stay at the Police Department during Hurricane Florence. We went out to Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary and passed out donations to the ones staying in the shelter. Jones County assisted us in the Westside Crackdown, several were arrested and charged. Pd like to commend Sergeant Callaway for his work and dedication in this area. Attended Cove City's Fireman's Day on September 29th. New police vehicle should be ready in October. Boyd's Automotive is repairing the 2007 Charger. We have 9,055 points in the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Do the Right Thing winner for September was. Jakori Berry. Hurricane Florence has brought this community together and helping one: another. The ditch work paid off during the: storm. We received 15i inches of water during the: storm. Local State and Federal Government were well prepared for this storm. Condolences and prayers to Beverly Drake's family, her fatheri in law passed away. Bailey Lane Water Toweri is almost complete. Trunk or Treat willl be October: 31" at Vanceboro United Methodist Church. Farm Life Avenue will right thing. be blocked for homecoming. Christmas Tree Lighting Service at the Town Hall will be November: 29th at 7:00 p.m. The State ofl Emergency curfew on the town went smoothly. President Trump and Governor Roy Cooper toured New Bern and the surrounding disaster areas. Thank you to Alderman McMillen for your work on the Bate Grant. The contractor will begin picking up limbs on October 2"d, have your limbs out to the road. We will plant some bushes at the front of Sewer Plant to hide limbs on the front ofl lot. Diteh mowing will be scheduled soon. Tree trimmers will be working on Williams Lane this week. Thanks to Vernon Edwards, Michael Bryant, ChiefJenkins, and Officer Callaway for making sure everything was running good after the storm. Police generator was an asset and worked well. Dog agreement is in place. Updates during the storm were made through Faceboook. We have six (6) locations that will be getting paved soon at a cost of$110,000. We receive $32,000 a year from Powell Bill funding. Bettie Powers has opened up: a restaurant, M ann M's Drive-In. Mosquito spraying will be done in town by the end of the week.
