TOW OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING  Heldi theirs regular monthly meeting on November. 5, 2018 at 8:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom  I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton.  II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith, and Alderman Billy Whitford. Those  absent: Alderman Earl Wright. III. Invocation by Alderman McMillen. IV. Pledge of Allegiance.  V. Approval ofminutes from last meetings Alderman MeMillen made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote 4-0. VI. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. After the meeting tonight you will get to meet our newest Officer Magnolia, our Police dog. October 1" we continued our drug operation here in town which resulted in 38 charges. McGruff: and our Police Department visited Our Children Child Care this month. We received the Dodge Charger back from Boyd's Automotive. Do the Right Thing winner for this month was Tor' Keem Jones. Officer Michael Anthony is radar certified. Trunk or Treat went well. New police car is in Winston-Salem. Wel had 277 city citations VIII. Mayor's Report. Alderman Earl Wright has submitted his resignation from the Board of Alderman effective December 31, 2018. Nominations to replace Mr. Wright from January - November 2019 are: Keith Cannon and Steve Belrose. Keith Cannon is our new Alderman. Birthdays this month are: Alderman Dunn, ChiefJenkins, and Alderman Smith. Craven County Smart Start will have their ribbon cutting ceremony at the library tomorrow at 2 p.m. Vanceboro Resident, Dorothy Gaskins, passed away on October 5", our condolences to her family. Trunk or Treat was well attended, approximately 1200 people total. Thank you Vanceboro United Methodist Church for) providing a safe place for our Town and community. Election Day is tomorrow, come out and vote. We met with FEMA and all of the paperwork should be complete soon. Our town employce Thanksgiving meal will be on November2l"ati the VFW. Employees will receive their turkeys for  written so fari in 2018.    Thanksgiving and hams for Christmas. Town Christmas Treel Lighting willl be November 29th at 71 p.m. Wewill be closed in observance of Veteran's Day on November 12"h. We should have the decision for the Bate Grant soon. Edging of sidewalks and curbing should be completed over the next two weeks. Ditch work will be complete soon. William Lilly is scheduled to put Christmas decorations up right after Thanksgiving. Dodge Charger is back running. Trash pickup day has changed to Friday's. Recyeling is still picked up on Tuesday. Mosquito spraying has been completed. Strongman Structures has let us borrow a Santa house for this year and we will have visiting hours for Santa in the month of December. Wewill be closed for Thanksgiving on November 22"d & 23"d. The dip in the road by Stewart Avenue will get leveled out soon. Please look out for stopped school buses, there has been 3 to 41 fatalities in the last few weeks in the United States. Make sure to dial 811 before you dig to locate lines. Iwould like to thank Alderman Wright for his 15 years ofservice to the Town ofVanceboro. He was a great asset to the town  and we appreciate him for all ofhis hard work and dedication.  IX. Alderman Reports.  Alderman Dunn wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
