TOW OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING Held their regular monthly meeting on December, 3, 2018 at 8:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton. II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith, and Alderman Billy Whitford. Those absent: Alderman Earl Wright. III. Invocation by Alderman Whitford. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval ofi minutes from last meetings Alderman Smith made a motion to approve minutes as corrected. Motion was seconded by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote VI. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Smith made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman McMillen and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Approval of2019 Holiday Schedule and 2019 Board of Alderman Meeting Schedule. Alderman Dunn made a motion to approve 2019 Holiday Schedule. Motion was Alderman Dunn made a motion to approve 2019 Board of Alderman Meeting Schedule. Motion was seconded by Alderman Whitford and carried. Vote 4-0. VIII. Planning and Zoning Board. Russell Ipock, Planning and Zoning Board member, addressed the Board of Alderman regarding property at 8530 Main Street, Vanceboro. The property is zoned as an R-8 at the present time; they are recommending it be reclassified to Industrial. Public hearing has been scheduled for. January 7", 8:00 p.m. at the Board of Alderman meeting. IX. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. Weare working a robbery case for Handy Mart, suspect stealing juul pods. Officer Anthony completed intox school. We redeemed 9,250 points from the Governor's Highway Safety Points and purchased radars, in-car cameras and traffic cones, this leaves us a balance of 50 points. Firearm training is complete for all of our officers. Do the Right' Thing winner for November is Bryce Strayhorn. Mags, our police dog, is in K-9 training and has been visiting the kids at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary. New police car 4-0. seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Public Works employee, Michacl Bryant willl be celebrating a birthday this month. Our condolences go out to the family of our 41" President, George H. W. Bush. Christmas Tree Lighting was a great success, thank you to the Town Clerk and Assistant Clerk for your hard work on this event. Thank you to our Santa volunteer and to Strongman Structures for the use of the Santa house this year. The paving project should be completed soon. Ditch work and mowing has been completed. Edging of sidewalks and curbing is halfway complete, the remainder should be completed soon. Hope you took the time to come out and vote last month. Attended the swearing in of the new Craven County Sheriff, Chip Hughes, wish him welli in his new role. We have ordered some more Passing on the Right signs. Town Hall will be closed December 24-26 in observance of Christmas. Wewill be closed on January 1 forl New Years Day. Bate Grant was approved for $15,000 for basketball court. Attended Craven County Smart Start ribbon cutting at the library. January 7th, will be our next Town Board Meeting. Keith Kidwell, NC House Representative - District 79, will be in attendance at this meeting. Wewill be swearing in Keith Cannon as Alderman in ourJ January meeting. itr repaired. XI.
