Swore in New Alderman. Mayor Chad Braxton swore in our new Alderman, Keith III. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman Keith Cannon, Alderman David Dunn, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith, and. Alderman Cannon. Billy Whitford. IV. Invocation by Alderman Smith. V. Pledge of Allegiance. VI. Approval of minutes from last meetings Alderman Cannon made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VII. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Smith made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Dunn and carried. Vote: 5-0. VII. Approval of Resolution Designation of Applicant's Agent. Alderman McMillen made an motion to approve Resolution Designation of Applicant's Agent. Motion was IX. Approval of Resolution of Abatements. Alderman Smith made a motion to approved Resolution of Abatements. Motion was seconded by Alderman Whitford and X. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. Wea attended the Christmas Parade in' Trent Woods. Mayor Braxton and Ia attended the swearing in ceremony for Sheriff Hughes. I attended a crisis meeting at the Board of Education to discuss school safety. Wel had a robbery at the Handy Mart, with the help of Craven County Sheriff's Office we were able to locate and place the suspect into custody the next day. Officer Anthony was recognized for having the highest performance in the traffic division. Weappreciate his hard work and dedication to the Town. Officer Anthony and I: attended a Shop with a Cop event at Vanceboro Farm Life. Three kids were selected to receive gifts from an anonymous donation and the Police Department. We: attended the Vanceboro Farm Life Awards ceremony on the 19th. seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote5-0. carried. Vote 5-0. Our Decemberwinner for Do the Right Thing was Chloe Garcia. Wel had 1,709 incidents for 2018; around 600 of those were traffic stops. XI. Public Hearing - Rezoning of Property at 8530 Main Street from R8 to Industrial. Alderman Dunn made a motion to open public hearing. Motion was: seconded by Alderman McMillen made: a motion to close public hearing. Motion was: seconded Alderman Smith made a motion to: approve rezoning for property at 8530 Main Street from R8 tol Industrial. Motion was seconded by Alderman Whitford and XII. Mayor's Report. NC House Representative - District 79, Keith Kidwell was unable to attend the meeting this time, maybe he can reschedule soon. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Birthdays this month is Public Works Director, Vernon Edwards and Public Works employee Tevin Long. Edging and curbing of sidewalks has been completed. Paving has been completed. Wewere approved for the Bate grant, should be starting the basketball court soon. Flag pole at Celestial Memorial Gardens has been fixed and the VFW should be putting up a flag soon. FEMA totals for Craven County, from Hurricane Florence totals $252 million, federal grants total $16 million. Santa House went well this year. Our Town Christmas Tree was finally repaired sO all the lights were working properly and light pole decorations were: all completed. Attended live nativity by Vanceboro United Methodist Church. Alderman Dunn will be resigning at the end of meeting tonight, wish him well in all his future endeavors.
