TOWN OF VANCRBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING Held their regular monthly meeting on June 3, 2019 at 8:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton. II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman Stephen Belrose, Alderman Keith Cannon, Alderman Todd McMillen, Alderman Dennis Smith and Alderman Billy Whitford. III. Invocation by Alderman Whitford. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval of minutes from last meeting. Alderman Smith made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman McMillen and carried. Vote 5-0. VI. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Whitford made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VII. Approval of Resolution to Accept the State Reserve Grant Offer for AIA. Asset Inventory and Assessment. Alderman Whitford made a motion to accept the State. Reserve Grant Offer for AIA Asset Inventory and Assessment. Motion was seconded by Alderman Smith and carried. Vote 5-0. VIII. Police Report was presented by ChiefJenkins. Vanceboro Strawberry Festival went well, no incidents to report other than the normal dog issues. We assisted with a DWI checking station in Pamlico County and held our own DWI checking station on May 18", the Bat Mobile was here to help. Attended thel Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Service in New Bern. Helped with two Wolf pack events, one in Craven County/Vanceboro area, and the other in the Rhems area. Do the Right IX. Mayor's Report. Happy Birthday to. Alderman Billy Whitford this month. Resident Kevin Cox passed away this weekend, our condolences and prayers go out to his family. Justin Hardy of the Atlanta Falcons will be hosting a football camp this Saturday, June 8th at' West Craven Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is free to the children, we appreciate him for working with our, youth in his hometown. Town Hall will be closed on July 4th in observance ofIndependence Day. Attended the Memorial Day Service at the Vanceboro Cemetery, many thanks to the VFW and thel Ruritan Club for organizing this event each year. Craven County has stated that they will be donating $20,000 to help with Phase II of the Richard W. Bowers Park. With all the beach deaths so far this year, please watch over your children carefully ifyou visit the Crystal Coast. Our community is currently under al burn ban set forth by the State of North Carolina, we will let our citizens know when it has been lifted. X. Alderman Reports. Alderman Belrose had no comment. Joyce Maney Vanceboro Ruritan Club extended an invite to an. Ice Cream Social being held on June 24th from 6-8 p.m. at 624 College Street to celebrate 25 years of the Ruritan Club being in Vanceboro. The community is invited to attend. She also thanked the Town for building the park to help give the children in this community Representative Keith Kidwell -N.C. House of] Representatives: 79th District introduced himself to everyone and wanted to let them know that he was here to help this community in any way that he could. He hopes some of the leftover funds from Hurricane Florence will be used to dredge some of the waterways. somewhere to go and play. XII. Adjournment.
