TOW OF VANCEBORO BOARD OF ALDERMAN MEETING Held their regular monthly meeting on July 11, 2022 at 7:00PM in the. Jimmie L. Morris Boardroom I. Call to order by Mayor Chad Braxton. II. Roll call Those Present: Mayor Chad Braxton, Alderman Keith Cannon, Alderman Russell Ipock, Alderman Thad Jones and Alderman Todd McMillen. Those Absent: Alderman Steve Belrose III. Invocation by Alderman Cannon. IV. Pledge of Allegiance. V. Approval ofi minutes from last meeting. Alderman McMillen made a motion to approve minutes. Motion was seconded by Alderman Ipock and carried. Vote 4-0. VI. Approval of Cash Receipts and Disbursements. Alderman Jones made a motion to pay bills. Motion was seconded by Alderman Cannon and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Approval ofE Budget Amendment. Alderman Ipock made a motion to approve budget amendment. Motion was seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. Vote 4-0. VII. Public Comment. Ted Frederick - Owner of trailer park on Harvey Street - stated that he would like to update a couple of! his trailers that are currently there. Hei is looking at lining Alderman Ipock made a motion to have the PlanningZoning Board look into this and then make a recommendation to the Board of Alderman. Motion was Nancy Moore - 7830 Main Street - Stated that the doublewide over by her home looks bad and that the camper is being lived in by people she doesn't know. She them up and making them look more presentable. seconded by Alderman Cannon and carried. Vote 4-0. said there is al lot of traffic in and out. Chief. Jenkins stated that he would inform the officers to keep an eye out on the Troy Freeman - 180 Morningside Drive - Stated that in the Elks Park development that residents are parking their cars on the street and wanted to know what could property. be done about it. ChiefJenkins willl let the residents know that the Town of Vanceboro doesn't allow parking on the sides of the street overnight. IX. Police Report was presented by Chief. Jenkins. Iattended the Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School awards ceremony. We have no candidates at this time for the open Police Officer position. Officer Herring has been promoted to Corporal. We appreciate all he does for the Town. National Night Out and Back to School Bash will be held on August 13"hat 6] p.m. July 23-d will be the next meeting regarding National Night Out. ALE is waiting for a mutual aid agreement before the FLOC system can start being used at the ABC Store. Iwill be tendering my resignation as ofJuly 28th. Ihave enjoyed my time with the department and wish the Town well in the future. X. Mayor's Reports. We will set a Public Hearing for the properties located at 307 Harvey Street and 801 Farm Life. Avenue for the next Board of Alderman meeting on. August 1"at7 p.m. Craven County Partners in Education will be hosting a Stuff the Bus on Saturday, August 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Staples in New Bern. Please support them in providing school supplies for our area schools. Hope everyone had a safe and fun filled July 4th Holiday. Alderman Belrose, Alderman McMillen and myself celebrate birthdays this month. Marla Grady and the niece of Public Works employee Pernell Fields passed away this month. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Vanceboro Self Storage will be expanding their storage units. Thanks to Beverly and Brittany for their work with the budget. Thanks to the Alderman for attending the budget workshops. We advertised the budget through Facebook, the Town website, newspaper, doors of Town Hall, Town Board meeting and through Phone Tree. The old Wheel Deal Auto building is now for rent. Thel house on Howell Street has sold and the new residents should be moving in soon. Wel have had lots sold on Mill Road and Fowle Street. Recycling for the Town will bel held July 21t. The hole on Farm Life. Avenue has been repaired. We may possibly get a digital sign for the Town Hall on the next fiscal year budget. August 1"will be the next Board of Alderman meeting. Craven County will be hosting their annual Clean Sweep on August 6". The picnic tables that were placed in the Richard W. Bowers Park are being used. Aerial Fitness will be moving in the building across from Kite's. XI. Alderman Reports. Meeting Minutes July11,2022 Alderman McMillen had no comment. Alderman Jones thanked Chief. Jenkins for his service to the Town and said that he would always be grateful for him showing up August 2012 when I had my heart Alderman Ipock thanked ChiefJenkins for his hard work and dedication to the Town and wished him the best. He stated that the artwork would look good throughout Town and would be willing to work on this project with the Clerks. Alderman Cannon thanked ChiefJenkins and wished him the best of luck. July 26th will be the next library meeting. August 4th, willl be movie night across the road from attack. the library in the vacant lot. XII. Closed Session. Alderman Ipock made a motion to go into closed session in accordance with NC659145-318.10X0 to discuss some personnel issues. Motion XIII. Open Session. Alderman Ipock made a motion to go back into open session. Motion was seconded by Alderman Jones and carried. Vote 4-0. was seconded by Alderman McMillen and carried. Vote 4-0.
