TOWN OF STOKESDALE Executive Session 8325 Angel Pardue Road Stokesdale, NC 27357 An Executive Session of the Stokesdale Town Council was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Town Hall at The following Council members were present: Mayor Randy Braswell, Vicki White-Lawrence, Frank Bruno. 8325. Angel Pardue Road. William N. (Bill). Jones and. Joe Thacker. Others present included Carolyn Joyner, Finance Officer/Town Clerk. The session began at 5:51 pm. The Closed Session was held for the purpose of Economic Braswell said that he has talked to the regional real estate person for the US Post Office and Development. they asked that Mayor the meeting be kept confidential. He is investigating the possibility of using the Town Hall building as the Stokesdale Post Office. The representative has indicated that it is highly unlikely that it would happen because of the lack of money. Bill Jones helped him to produce a sketch oft the layout of Town Hall including the lot. The parking Stokesdale Postmaster has visited Town Hall. Ifthis building is considered, the Post Office would have to look at all commercial real estate that is available. Mayor Braswell said that he wanted to bring Council up to date on the matter. He suggested sending a letter offering thej possibility for the Post Office tol look at the building and tos send drawings and a sketch oft the building. Ms. White-Lawrence asked if the offer would be to look at the existing facility or an expansion of the building. Mayor Braswell said that the Post Master felt that they only needed a very small area. The letter would offer for them to come and look at the building. There may be some modifications such as the addition of post office boxes. Mr.. Jones said that some modifications such a separate exterior entrance may be needed. A layout would be sent to them to see ift the building could possibly work. If we could lease a portion of the building, it would help to offset the maintenance expenses tol keep up thel building and this is restricting the funds and limiting what Council can do. He said that even ifiti resulted in thel Post Office being moved to another location, it would be al benedictional tot the Mr. Thacker said that an expansion may be needed to accommodate the post office boxes. He would like to look at Mayor Braswell said that he would like to offer the plans for them to review. He discussed thej possibility ofal lease ift they should be interested in looking at the building. He suggested authorizing him to put together a letter which Ms. White-Lawrence said that she was not in favor of chopping up Town Hall. There was discussion about bringing more people to Town Hall and getting them use to using it. Mayor Braswell showed Council the Town.
