The week after Christmas the Police Department had Officers working some extra days, and utilized a reserve The traffic congestion was as expected. We had Officers in the correct areas which helped keep traffic moving. No parking issues were reported in the roadways. Some parking citations were issued for vehicles in no parking areas, and fire lanes. Ihave attached our monthly activity log, along with events ofi interest. Iwould like to thank Bill Daniels and his crew for help during the traffic congestion. With all Village employees watching out for parking issues. Officers can correct the issues in a timely manner, and prevent vehicles from parking ini the roadway. Ihave been working on a grant to replace our Body Worn Cameras that were purchased in 2015. The cameras are becoming worn and, having issues with the software. lalso hope to replace two (2) of the in-car radios. Currently, we are using radios that were purchased in 2000. The radios still function correctly but do not have the newer 800mhz frequencies. The grant is through the NC Crime Commission and is of no cost to the Village. The total amount of the grant will be around $21,000. This grant has been submitted, if approved the equipment can be purchased in. July. Iv want to thank all SMPD Officers that worked extra during the Holidays. Ihave completed the yearly Department Training Audit of all sworn Officers for 2022. On 01/03/2022lsummited the compliance form to NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards. All Officers completed at least 24 Hours of state-mandated In-service for 2022. 2023 In-service Officer for that week. Most days at least three (3) Officers were on duty.
