Officers worked: some extra shifts, helping to have more officers on duty. Saturday the 18th SMPD had five (5) Officers on duty. This assisted in traffic control operations. Only eight (8) Parking citations were issued  for the entire weekend. No major traffici incidents were reported.  On March 31,1 I will be going to dayshift working 6 am-6 pm. Officer Buchanan will be going to the night shift 6, pm-6 am to cover the vacant shift upon Sgt. Townsends retirement. Everyone is working diligently on the new hire's paperwork. We look to get a lot of day-to-day training behind them so that when certified the new! hires can be assigned a permeate shift. lam looking forward to being fully  staffed with: six (6) full-time Officers.  Officer Brown and Iwilll be attending Intoximeter recertification on 3/8 at Banner Elk. Officers  have already started online is-service for 2023. Attached is our activity log.
