Agency heads are required to have all certified personnel (active, inactive, full-time, and part-time) fingerprinted at al Live Scan device and electronically submit those fingerprints tot the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for enrollment ini the Rap Back service prior tol May 31, 2023. Ihave submitted the Police Department Budget to the Village Manager. We are asking for a new patrol vehicle to put on the front line. I have priced a 2023 Dodge Durango. Iwould ask to keep the Ford Taurus Police Interceptor as a spare vehicle. This vehicle is the oldest in our fleet, but still can be used as a backup and ins situations where extra officers are needed during busy times. lwould like to purchase four (4) patrol rifles sO each Officer would be issued their own. The patrol rifles are a much needed piece ofe equipment for our Department. We currently only have two (2) patrol rifles owned by the department. Thank you for your consideration. Our call volume has been down during the transition from winter to summer season in the Village, as expected. Ihavel been investigating some cases, including check fraud, Identity theft, anda stolen vehicle. Our Officers are out patrolling' Village Streets, day and night. We have a fine group of Officers they are doing a great job. On 4/22/2023 Officer Brown was patrolling the Food Lion Area, and observed a male subject that was known to have outstanding warrants from Avery County. The male subject was arrested and taken before the Avery County Magistrate: the male subject was, given a $2,500 secure bond. On 5/5/2023 Officer Guinn conducted ai traffic stop on NC: 184, the vehicle driver was found to have no driver license, and had been consuming alcohol, the driver was cited for no operator license, and Driving after consuming alcohol. On 5/9/2023 Officer Buchanan while conducting business checks in the NC105 area, Officer Buchanan observed a suspicious vehicle around 1:30 am. Officer Buchanan conducted a trafficstopt for an expired tag, and found the driver had five (5) felony warrants for larceny by employee of Greenville NC. The male subject was arrested and taken tot the Avery County Magistrate, was given a$10,000 secure bond. Ihave attached the Activity Log Event Summary, from 4/15 through5/9.
