Sugar Mountain Police Department BOLICE THE VILLAGE dou 251 Dick' Trundy Lane Sugar Mountain, North Carolina 28604 (828)898-4349 chief@seesugar.com Chief Casey' Turbyfill REPORT TO VILLAGE COUNCIL March 14, 2024 The Police Department is operating well. It is nice to be back to full staff. Officer Osborne is doing well, and has proven to be a great asset to the department. I have no issues to report. As you will notice, our call volume is still high. The call volume should decrease over the next couple months. Iwill return to Monday through Friday schedule soon. Officer J. Buchanan and Iwill be covering some shifts for other officers to take vacation and attend training. Officer Osborne is scheduled to attend Intoximeter Operator class in early April. Officer Hicks will attend Radar Operator class in July. All officers have started completing the yearly required twenty four hours of mandated in-service. This training is offered online through the North Carolina Justice Academy at no charge. We have received $8,785.60 in funding through the North Carolina Apprenticeship program toward equipment and wages for Officer Hicks, and will receive another $6,906.45 soon. The newest Dodge Durango is now in service, with all equipment operational. The Ford Expedition will be stripped of police equipment and listed for sale on govdeals.com. As always I want to thank everyone in our department for a job well done, and their dedication to the police department. All ofus continue to improve in efforts to provide the best public safety service for all, and we thank you for the opportunity to serve. Ihave attached or activity event summary for the past month.
