The training will enhance DWI enforcement and certify Officer Osborne to operate the breath testing instrument. Officer Brown completed an online training for negotiating with sovereign citizens. Our entire staffi is in the process ofcompleting Mandatory In-Service Training, which will be completed soon, except for firearms. I have completed four of eight online leadership classes through Robeson County Community College. Iwas awarded my Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification on 4/5/2024 I plan to apply for the Advanced Law Enforcement Certification, upon completion oft the current college semester. Officer Brown and Officer J. Buchanan currently hold their Advanced Lawl Enforcement Certifications, giving the Village a discount on liability insurance. The importance ofcontinued training and further education will assist our department inj providing quality law enforcement to the Village. Iwould like to report the federal indictment ofa Charlotte man who falsely impersonated a federal officer while visiting Sugar Mountain on January 21st. William Eubanks was indicted on multiple counts of falsely impersonating a federal officer, after aj joint investigation by Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau ofinvestigations. Iwould like to thank all the agencies involved ini this investigation and arrest process. Please see the attached press release from the Sugar Mountain Police Department has been busy investigating several incidents, along with patrolling the Village, and improving our communty-ortented policing activities. ChiefTurbyfill and Officer Brown conducted a death investigation at Sugar Top on 3/19. The Lowes Foods reported al larceny on 3/22, the investigation is still ongoing. No suspect has been Officer J. On 4/6, and 4/7 Officer Brown while patrolling located subjects wanted on felony warrants. Both were arrested and warrants were served at the Avery County Magistrates Office. Breaking and entering with larceny at the Wishing Well (Coin Laundry) was reported to the Sugar Mountain Police Department on 4/2. A suspect has been identified, and further investigation is ongoing. Ac current investigation is ongoing for obtaining property by faise pretense at a local business. This investigation will result in charges from multiple agencies. This investigation stems from Citations charges: 18 Traffic violations including speeding, no insurance, and no operator the unauthorized use ofbusiness credit cards. License, drive while license revoked, and expired registration.
